Long-distance cycle route BerlinUsedom
The initiative for the long-distance cycle route Berlin - Usedom started in 2003 by a Berlin working group and several districts from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg. The aim was to open up the relevant regions for tourism and thus contribute to economic promotion. The joint project was also supported with funds from the EU. After an analysis of the circumstances, the route determination, planning and preparation of the necessary construction work were carried out at district level, and on August 30, 2007 the cycle path was officially opened.
On Usedom also runs Baltic Sea Cycle Route, which continues from the island in the direction of Schleswig-Holstein.

Comfortably from A to B
The cycle path Berlin - Usedom runs over almost 340 km, starting in Berlin Mitte via Eberswalde in Barnimer Land, Angermünde, Prenzlau and Ueckermünde, Anklam, and finally, after crossing the Peenestrom, through the city Usedom, the imperial baths of Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin via Zinnowitz and Karlshagen to Peenemünde in the north. If you want, you can explore a section of the Wall Cycle Path in Berlin. The Berlin Mauerer Cycle Path takes you along the historical wall.
The route initially runs in flat terrain, which becomes somewhat hilly towards the north. With only 58 m difference in altitude, it is an easy route with mostly developed, easily passable cycle paths, partly also paved forest and field paths.
Those who want to include the numerous sights will take more time than the sporty ambitious who divide their tour into a few stages. If you don't want to miss anything then book a guided bike tour. There are excursion destinations for young and old, so it never gets boring on the long-distance cycle path.

You could spend a lot of time in Berlin visiting museums, the television tower, the Reichstag, etc. In addition to the churches in the villages along the long-distance cycle route Berlin - Usedom there are many architectural objects that you can visit while passing through. The Steintor and the Hungerturm with the local history museum in Bernau, the city wall in Prenzlau with its Wiek houses, or the historic old towns of Angermünde, Ueckermünde and Pasewalk - where there is also a museum on the prehistory and early history of the region. If you climb the 27 m high castle tower in Ueckermünde, you have a wonderful view over the gabled houses of the old town, the city harbor and the Szczecin Lagoon Usedom.
In Torgelow, Western Pomerania, we recommend the archaeological open-air museum, where life in the early Middle Ages is presented very vividly. In Anklam there is the Otto Lilienthal Museum, in Peenemünde the Maritim Museum and of course you should admire the resort architecture in Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin.
