From Zittau to Berlin

From the tri-border region in Saxony we head to the capital Berlin. The bike tour is a combination of Oder-Neiße Cycle path and Spree cycle path. Both long-distance cycle paths are connected by the Oder-Spree-Tour through the beautiful Schlaubetal. The historic old towns of Zittau and Görlitz await you on the Neisse. In Bad Muskau, Prince Pückler invites you to take a long walk through his imposing park. The rose garden in Forst and the monastery in Neuzelle are further highlights before you switch to the Spree. Many lakes are waiting along the way and you will find peace and relaxation while cycling through lonely pine and floodplain forests. Beeskow and Fürstenwalde offer cultural variety in between. Finally you reach Köpenick, home of the famous captain and one of the most beautiful and water-rich parts of Berlin.

Overnight place: Zittau

Along the romantic Neisse we go to Ostritz. The oldest German Cistercian convent can be visited here. Görlitz is the easternmost city in Germany and presents itself with a picturesque old town, as it was not destroyed in the war.

You cycle on natural paths via Rothenburg and the cultural island of Einsiedel to the idyllic park and spa town of Bad Muskau. Prince Pückler created a masterpiece here, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.

Today you pass the "Green Border" to Brandenburg and reach Forst, the city of roses and cloth makers. More than 800 varieties of roses give off a scent in the East German rose garden.
Another "natural spectacle" awaits you with the Jänschwalde open-cast lignite mine. To shorten the tour, the train can be used from Guben to Neuzelle (not included).

Overnight place: Guben or surroundings

After Ratzdorf you leave the Oder and now use the Oder-Spree-Tour cycle path. On your way are the Cistercian monastery Neuzelle from the 15th century and the Schlaubetal, one of the most beautiful stream valleys in Brandenburg with many rare animal and plant species. To shorten the tour, you can use the train from Guben to Neuzelle (not included).

Overnight place: garbage rose

From Müllrose you first cycle to Beeskow with its pretty historic old town and imposing castle. On the Spree Cycle Path, the ride takes you along the meanders of the Spree to Fürstenwalde. Enjoy the peace and quiet on a long drive through the forest before you reach vibrant Berlin.

Overnight place: Fürstenwalde

The last stage leads via Erkner and the Müggelsee to the green edge of the Spree metropolis. From the 30 meter high Müggelturm you can expect a wide view over the country. At the end of the day, treat yourself to a stroll through the old town of Köpenick and shake hands with the famous captain.
