Arrive in Bamberg on your own. Take the opportunity for a relaxing stroll through the city—perhaps with a visit to the cathedral, a stroll along the Regnitz River, or your first Franconian beer in one of the traditional inns. Welcome to Bamberg!

Your first cycling stage begins in the UNESCO Heritage city of Bamberg—a true Franconian gem with medieval charm, narrow streets, and the famous Old Town. Your cycling tour takes you through the meadows of the Regnitz Valley, visits Forchheim, a small and cozy Franconian town, and finally reaches Erlangen.

Today's tour takes you through flat landscapes and sandy pine forests, along river meadows shaded by large oak trees entwined with wild hops. Passing Fürth—a detour into the city is worthwhile—the Regnitz Cycle Path leads you past the "Kettensteg" and "Henkersteg" bridges to the destination of today's stage: Nuremberg. A fascinating mix of medieval flair, imposing buildings, and modern urban culture awaits you.

The historical MainThe Danube Canal, also known as the Ludwigskanal (Ludwigs Canal), is your constant companion today. It is one of the oldest canals in the world, offering stunning panoramas and 101 locks. At the end, you'll enter the Rothsee National Park and reach Hilpoltstein, just outside the Franconian Lake District.

This stage takes you through one of Bavaria's most charming landscapes – the Altmühl Valley. Starting in Hilpoltstein, you will follow the well-signposted Altmühl Valley Cycle Path and follow the gently rolling MainDanube Canal. Enjoy a relaxing ride through nature and history, passing lush green meadows, rugged cliffs, and historic locks. In Beilngries, a charming old town with a medieval flair awaits you – the perfect end to a delightful day of cycling.

The heart of the Altmühl Valley awaits you – a true natural paradise! Numerous information panels along the trail provide insight into the region's history and the unique geological features of the Altmühl Valley. Along the way, there are several opportunities to refresh yourself with a coffee or simply enjoy the tranquility of nature. The destination of your tour is the charming town of Riedenburg, also known as the "Pearl of the Altmühl Valley." Surrounded by castle ruins and wooded hills, it invites you to linger – a true insider tip for nature and culture lovers.

Today, the tour continues through idyllic landscapes and past small villages. A highlight awaits you in Kelheim, where the Altmühl and Danube rivers converge. High above the town towers the imposing Befreiungshalle, an impressive building built by King Ludwig I, which rewards you with a spectacular view after a short climb. The tour continues along the Danube to magnificent Regensburg – one of Germany's oldest cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Look forward to a destination steeped in history, impressive architecture, and Bavarian lifestyle!

Excursion program: aCan only be booked directly on board. A brief description will be provided with your travel documents. Depending on the group size, the excursions may be offered bilingually (German-English).

Timetable and program changes are generally reserved. If, for example, a route cannot be navigated due to low or high water or bad weather, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety (this is not a free reason for cancellation). The same applies to lock and/or bridge repairs ordered by the authorities and not announced in advance.

Other notes: Please remember that your riverboat is, on the one hand, your "vacation hotel," but on the other hand, it is also a working tool that moves using motor power and must be operated constantly, even at night (sometimes when passing through locks and bridges). We recommend that guests who are particularly sensitive to noise bring earplugs. Lock passages are subject to disruption and unfortunately cannot be changed.
