The Ore Mountains are located in the border region between Saxony and Czech Bohemia. Vast spruce forests, mountain meadows, hidden forest lakes and raised bogs characterize the image of this picturesque landscape. The circular hike takes you in 4 stages from Oberwiesenthal via the town of Abertamy in Czech Bohemia to Rittersgrün and back to Oberwiesenthal.
Arrival to Oberwiesenthal on your own during the day.
Overnight place: Oberwiesenthal
They begin their first stage on an idyllic path. You leave Oberwiesenthal on the old post road and hike to Bozi Dar (Gottesgab) across the German/Czech border on the Anton Günther Weg. Through the Gottesgaber peat bog it goes to the foot of the Spitzberg, at 1.115m the third highest mountain in the Ore Mountains. Forest paths lead to the peak of Plesivec, whose lookout tower offers a unique panoramic view of the Ore Mountains. Then it's down the valley to Abertamy.
400 m ascent - 420 m descent
Overnight place: Abertamy/Sel.
Quiet forest paths lead you back over the border to Germany to the holiday resort of Johanngeorgenstadt. The path crosses the Plattenberg, on the flanks of which collapsed mining tunnels and gorges created in this way can be found. The Wolfsbinge, a collapsed mining tunnel from the 18th century, which is now a gorge created in this way, can be visited via a detour. Down the valley it goes via Potucky to Johanngeorgenstadt.
260 m ascent and 390 m descent
Overnight place: Johanngeorgenstadt
You leave the former mining town and today's health resort on the Anton-Günther-Weg. On an idyllic path on an old post road, it goes into the forest. Along the border between Saxony and the Czech Republic it goes to the village of Halbmeiler. On the way, the memorial of an old border post with a guard hut and barrier reminds us of the times of Saxony and Bohemia. Today's milestone is reached in Rittersgrün.

Today's stage continues along the German-Czech border to Oberwiesenthal. First it goes through the Pöhlwassertal and uphill following the course of the Klingerbach. The path leads through Tellerhäuser up to the Fichtelberg, the summit of which can be hiked in another half hour. It's not far to the Oberwiesenthal stage destination, where your hike ends.
