Welcome to Burg, the eastern gateway to the Spreewald. With almost 200 navigable rivers and about 300 bridges, it can be called the "Venice of the East". The tourist centers of Lübbenau, Lübben and the Lausitz metropolis of Cottbus can be reached quickly. The very well developed cycling and hiking trail offers cycling fun in a unique natural landscape.

During the day you will travel to Burg on your own. After your arrival you can relax in the Spreewaldtherme with its iodine-containing thermal brine
(on their own).

Overnight place: Castle

On your first stage you will get to know Burg better. This circular route connects all three districts. The barefoot park awaits you right at the beginning, where body and soul can find rest and relaxation. Behind the Waldschlösschen boat ferry port (not so frequented) it is worth making a detour to the Polenzschänke, the oldest inn in the region. Past the maze you reach the Schlossberg with the Bismarck Tower and the Willow Cathedral. The Spreehafen, the Heimatstube and the old Spreewald train station are some of the highlights in Burg Dorf.

Today's destination is Prince von Pückler's Branitzer Park in Cottbus. After a short ride on the Gherkin Cycle Path, the Lausitz metropolis is quickly reached. In addition to the old town (Altmarkt) with many places to stop for refreshments, the other parks, such as the animal park or the Spreeauenpark (BUGA Park), are particularly worth seeing. For the return journey, you can either take the same route as before or take the slightly longer but more beautiful route via the old fortified town of Peitz.

From the Bismarck Tower, the route follows the old Spreewald railway line. After two small Spreewald villages, Pintschen's Spring and the almost 1000-year-old Florentine Oak await you. Two bathing lakes invite you to take a refreshing dip on hot days before you can visit the granary, the Schinkel Church and the Dutch windmill in Straupitz. The triple mill can saw, grind and press linseed oil, which is demonstrated in demonstrations. Before Burg-Kauper, you can experience pure nature on a nearly 4 km long journey through the high forest.

You cycle to Leipe either via the Dubkow-Mühle or Waldschlösschen and from there continue on a picturesque path along Fliess to the lagoon village of Lehde, where the post is still delivered by barge. The cucumber and open-air museums are worth seeing. In Lübbenau you can expect the colorful market activity at the Great Harbour. A detour to the Spreewald restaurant Wotschofska is recommended. On the return trip via Boblitz and Raddusch you can visit the Rabe gherkin factory (on your own) and stock up on Spreewald delicacies.

We are cycle tourists who no longer want to travel by train (too much frustration). Therefore, the so-called star tours are the right offer for us. There could be more offers. We want to go to the next year Harz, but find the offered star tour too hiking-heavy. Nevertheless, we will probably book with you and supplement the tours independently.
