So what are you waiting for? Follow the well-maintained cycle path from Salzburg to Carinthia with the whole family!
There is much to see along the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path, from the Golling and Gastein waterfalls to the rushing rivers and the Salzachöfen gorge. At the Celtic Museum in Hallein, you can actively immerse yourself in the region's history.

You'll cycle leisurely out of Salzburg through the shady Salzach meadows, the Salzach River your companion. The route leads to Hallein, a Celtic town once wealthy thanks to salt mining. Its main attraction is undoubtedly the world-famous Celtic Museum. Passing the Golling Waterfall, you'll quickly reach your overnight stop of the same name, characterized by its charming market square and 13th-century castle. A possible excursion takes you to the beautiful Bluntautal valley.

From Golling, cycle up to the Lueg Pass, enjoying the view of the striking Tennengebirge mountains. The mountain draws ever closer to the Salzach River, and the roar of the water grows louder. You'll pass the so-called "Salzachöfen," an impressive gorge carved by the Salzach. After Werfen with its towering castle, you'll soon reach St. Johann. The section from Golling to Werfen over the Lueg Pass can be bypassed by train (at your own expense, shortening the route by approximately 15 km).

The Salzach River accompanies you as far as Schwarzach, from where you continue by train into the wildly romantic Gastein Valley. Cycling via Dorfgastein and Bad Hofgastein, you reach the renowned spa and winter sports resort of Bad Gastein at the foot of the Hohe Tauern mountain range, which offers a wealth of natural, historical, and architectural attractions. Its landmark is the Gastein Waterfall, located right in the heart of the town.

On this short stage, you can truly enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery one last time. From Bad Gastein, it's just a stone's throw to Böckstein, where a train will take you through the Tauern Tunnel to Mallnitz on the other side of the Alps in just 10 minutes. Back in the saddle, you can enjoy the long descent to your hotel in the Möll Valley.
Overnight stay: Mölltal
Today you cycle along the Möll River through impressive high mountain landscapes. The Drautal valley and with it the sunny south of Austria begins in the town of Möllbrücke. You roll leisurely the last few kilometers to Spittal an der Drau. The city was already an important transport hub for pilgrims in the Middle Ages and owed some of its prosperity to them.
Overnight stay: Spittal
You'll practically roll along the Drava River on a gentle downhill slope. Halfway there, you should take a break in the small market town of Paternion. A few more strong pedal strokes and you'll reach Villach, whose heart is its charming old town with its southern flair.
