On their own. In Waren between the harbor and the old town there are many beautiful cafés, restaurants and shops vying for your attention.

Accommodation in Waren (Müritz) or Klink.

Overnight place: Waren (Müritz) or Klink

Your first stage takes you through the Müritz National Park. You drive along the eastern shore through this 318 km² gem. Numerous plants and animals have their habitat here.

Overnight place: Book

Your path leads you through extensive forests, swamps and meadows to Neustrelitz, once the residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

Before you set off again, you should take some time to tour the city. In particular, the market and the castle park are worth seeing.
Via a network of many small lakes you reach the area of the Havel-Müritz waterway south of Wesenberg. The boat traffic on the lakes and at the locks is also an experience seen from the side of the road.

Overnight place: Kleinzerlang, Rheinsberg, Canow or Grünplan

Cycle along the Havel waterway back to Müritz. Wave to the leisure captains at the locks. The 3 Queens Palace on the Mirower Schlossinsel is an attractive stopover.

Röbel is located at the southern end of the Müritz. On your way there you will encounter some prehistoric evidence such as burial mounds and megalithic tombs. Röbel is an old craftsmen's and farmers' town. The open landscape on the west bank of the Müritz offers a fantastic view over the "Small Sea".

Overnight place: Robel or the surrounding area

From the Müritz you cycle on the "Mecklenburg Lakes Cycle Path" to the Plauer See.
At its southern tip you can visit the largest bear forest in Central Europe. Brown bears live here in large forest enclosures. Continue cycling on the western side of Lake Plau. Plau is a small town with many half-timbered houses on the left and right of the Elde.

Overnight place: Plau at the lake

The stage leads around the northern tip of the Plauer See. The village of Alt Schwerin can be reached quickly. At various points in the village and in the Agroneum, you can experience Mecklenburg agricultural history from the last 200 years. At the edge of the Schwinzer Heide your path then leads you to the island town of Malchow.

Overnight place: Malchow or surroundings

The last stage takes you through a wide, open landscape south of the Upper Lakes back to the west bank of the Müritz. You cycle through the holiday area
"Land Fleesensee".

Very nice bike tour with a variety of sightseeing opportunities

The first two stages are pure national park: moors, lakes, many birds, all types of forest (from pine-pole forest to jungle-like natural forest). You can swim well in Boek, Neustrelitz still shows the original baroque floor plan and offers interesting economic-historical information in the port. On the third stage, if you can bear it, you shouldn't miss the Ravensbrück concentration camp memorial. Canow at the end of the 3rd stage is a good starting point for beautiful canoe tours. Two stages along huge grain fields follow to Mirow and then to Röbel. The Plauer See and then the town of Plau are wonderful places to stay. The penultimate stage leads past the Alt-Schwerin Museum of Agricultural History (recommended!) to Malchow, the last, also in the "extended" variant, on romantic little roads (except for a short section on the B192) back to Waren. All in all, a very varied, beautiful bike tour, on which you experience the landscape in all its facets and also have time to linger here and there and take a closer look. We therefore definitely recommend the stroll variant.

One of the Mecklenburger Radtour very well prepared dream trip with a detailed route description and qualitatively acceptable hotels through the area of the Mecklenburg Lakes is behind us. The so-called stroll tour with relatively short daily stages allowed us to easily visit the many sights and to leisurely perceive the impressive nature of the Müritz National Park. An overall wonderful experience that we can only recommend.
