Guided e-bike tour Baltic Sea - Flensburg to Lübeck

Schleswig-Holstein invites you to a varied e-bike journey “between the seas”. Water accompanies you on every cycling day: With a fresh breeze, you cycle along the coast with its bright sandy beaches, along bays and fjords and discover countless small and large lakes. Your bike routes lead through shady avenues with mighty chestnuts and oaks, through grain and rapeseed fields, secluded forests, lonely moor areas and meadows with cows and sheep. On your way there are traditional port towns, dreamy villages with thatched houses and brick churches with shady churchyards. You start in the north, in Flensburg. Near the fjord, Glücksburg Castle shines in brilliant white. In Kappeln you come to the Schlei. At Arnis, the smallest town in Germany, you cross the Schlei and discover the thatched houses of Sieseby. From Eckernförde you reach the Bistensee, whose tranquility you can enjoy for two nights. One of the cultural highlights awaits you in Schleswig: you explore the fishing settlement of Holm, admire the Brüggemann Altar in the cathedral and have a picnic at Gottorf Castle. Afterwards you will immerse yourself in the world of the Vikings in Haithabu. On the Kiel Canal you can “Kieken Potte” before taking a ferry across the Kiel Fjord. From Lütjenburg you can explore the beautiful landscape of Holstein Switzerland with the lakes around Eutin and Plön. Finally we go back to the Baltic Sea coast and the Bay of Lübeck. You cover the last kilometers to the Hanseatic city of Lübeck by train. Enjoy beer culture in Flensburg and Lübeck, a stop at a ham smokehouse and a fish sandwich in between. Some special hotels in a quiet location by the water round off your travel experience.

b) Car: Secure parking near the start hotel or at the end hotel (both subject to a charge). Good train connections between Flensburg and Lübeck. At 17 p.m. our tour guide welcomes you to the Hotel Hafen Flensburg on the Flensburg Fjord. Then take a short tour of the port city. Stay at the hotel for dinner.

In the morning you cycle along the Flensburg Fjord to Glücksburg Castle. Then follow the Baltic Sea cycle path in gentle ups and downs to the port of Langballigau. At lunchtime you will take a detour to the Unewatt open-air museum. Back at the fjord, you reach Geltinger Bay. In Kappeln you spend the night in the listed Südspeicher. The evening is at your leisure.

Today your e-bikes roll through the enchanting landscape of the Schlei. In pretty Arnis you take the ferry across. Along the water it goes to Sieseby, whose thatched cottages are a listed building. Around the port town of Eckernförde you drive through a wavy landscape with fields and wooded areas. Finally you reach the Bistensee: You sleep two nights in the Hotel Töpferhaus and dine in the hotel restaurant with a view of the lake.

On your cycle route through the Hüttener Berge nature park you will cross the Breckendorf forest. Along the Schlei it goes to Schleswig. After a detour to the fishing settlement of Holm, visit the Schleswig Cathedral with the Brüggemann altar. The picnic table is set for you today at Gottorf Castle. In Haithabu you will visit the museum and the Viking houses before you return to the hotel by bike or transfer.

First, your e-bikes climb a short incline, then you can relax and “kike pots”: Your bike route follows the Kiel Canal to the Kiel Fjord. Take the ferry across to Laboe and cycle along the Baltic Sea coast through beach towns like California and Brazil. You can reach the brick town of Lütjenburg by bike or transfer. You sleep two nights in the quiet Hotel Ostseeblick. Go to a restaurant for dinner.

The route goes gently up and down through the lovely landscape of Holstein Switzerland with its numerous lakes. On your bike tour through Eutin you will admire the castle. You cycle along Lake Kellersee to your idyllic picnic spot at Lake Diek. After the coffee break in the old town of Plön, you ride your bikes back to the hotel. This evening in Lütjenburg is at your leisure.

Through the foothills of Holstein Switzerland you reach the historic smokehouse of the Braasch ham smokehouse. Later you will return to the Baltic Sea with your e-bikes and stop at the honorary cemetery of “Cap Arcona”. In Neustadt in Holstein you board the train to Lübeck and your noble hotel Bicycleisson Blu Senator. Before the final dinner, you will take a short tour of the Hanseatic city.
