This unforgettable bike tour begins in the romantic Fugger city of Augsburg and leads over crystal-clear Bavarian lakes to the fairytale castles of Bavarian King Ludwig. The Lech, the last wild river, now accompanies you on the Romantic Road back to Augsburg.
Lots of bike paths and side streets with little traffic. Mostly asphalted paths, longer sections also on gravel paths. The route is hilly in parts and there are short inclines to overcome.

Through traditional Bavarian towns you come to the Ammersee, which invites you to take a break. We continue to the Wörthsee, one of the most beautiful bathing lakes in Bavaria.

Overnight place: Woerthsee/Ammersee

You cycle along the Wörthsee and Pilsensee to the Ammersee. A beautiful cycle path along the Ammer takes you to Weilheim. Through the Pfaffenwinkel you reach the Staffelsee. Alternatively, you can cycle from Herrsching via Andechs Abbey, which is well worth seeing. This requires a sporty condition or an e-bike.

Overnight place: Seehausen/Murnau am Staffelsee region

Via the Murnauer Moos you come to a special highlight of the day: the Wieskirche - one of the most famous rococo churches in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can see the fairytale castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein from afar

Overnight place: Schwangau/Fussen

You leave Füssen, at 800 meters the highest town in Bavaria. The Forggensee and the Lech river accompany you to Schongau. The historic old town with almost complete historic city wall invites you to visit.

We say goodbye to the medieval Staufer town of Schongau. The important Romanesque basilica of St. Michael in Altenstadt and the baroque pilgrimage church in Vilgertshofen are particularly worth seeing today.

Overnight place: Landsberg am Lech

It is not for nothing that Landsberg is known as the "Upper Bavarian Rothenburg". Before you pedal, you should take a look at the impressive backdrop of the old town. You cycle past the ducal town of Friedberg to your starting point in Augsburg.
