On their own. The old Hanseatic city is the gateway to the island Rügen. Impressively connects the new Rügenbridge, next to the old one Rügendam, the mainland with the island.

Overnight place: Stralsund

About the old one Rügendamm you cycle to the island Rügen Direction Altefaehr. Along the Strelasund your way leads along the Kubitzer Bodden and then further through the west of the island to Bergen. On the edge of the tour touches the national park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft.

Overnight place: mountains or the surrounding area

The Rugard in Bergen was once the site of a Slavic castle complex. Today you can let your gaze wander over the island from the lookout tower. Putbus, planned as a residence by Prince Malte zu Putbus, is the intermediate destination of today's stage. The trip to the Baltic Sea coast takes you on attractive paths Rügens.

Overnight place: in one of the seaside resorts (Binz, Sellin, Baabe, Göhren)

A large wooden gate marks the entrance to Mönchgut, where monks once tried to dig the south of the island away from the main island. The Zickersche Berge attract with meadows and juniper heath to linger. You explore this archipelago with the option of being able to shorten the way back by train (on your own).

Overnight place: Like the day before in one of the seaside resorts (Binz, Sellin, Baabe, Göhren)

The wooded heights of the Granitz will remind you of the German low mountain ranges in miniature, if it weren't for the occasional view of the Baltic Sea. This one from the Granitz hunting lodge is particularly impressive. Flat and easy, always along the beach, you cycle from Binz to Mukran. In the Mukran ferry port you can dream after the ships.

Overnight place: Sassnitz or the surrounding area

Today you will explore the chalk cliffs, a symbol of the island Rügen. Visit the Königsstuhl National Park Center (under your own management) with its Chalk Coast adventure world. Hike a bit through the extensive beech forests and enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea. Further along the path, the view of Cape Arkona soon becomes clear.

Overnight place: Trent, Bohlendorf, Wiek, Breege, Juliusruh or the surrounding area

By ship (incl.) you go through the Bodden landscape to the island of Hiddensee. A short hike to the heights of the Dornbusch is worthwhile. The island can be cycled either over dykes or heathland paths. You as a cyclist are king, because the island is car-free. In the afternoon we take the ferry (incl.) back to Stralsund.

Overnight place: Stralsund

Large Rügentour (Rüg-02_17)

All in all a very nice and perfectly organized tour! In some cases, the route description was not entirely consistent, or there were no signposts; The enclosed cycling map was very helpful and I always got to my destination, even if it was a detour. The hotels waren all good to very good, the staff very friendly and courteous. A small exception is the Pension Mola, a tiny attic room, fortunately it wasn't hot, and the breakfast menu was also very "full of plastic packaging". But the short walk to the ferry to Hiddensee made up for it. All in all a wonderful tour that I can only recommend.

great tour

Rügen is a beautiful island. The tour was very well planned, the accommodations waren well chosen and the luggage transport worked smoothly. However, the condition and signage of the bike paths, as described in the guide, was sometimes very bad.

dream island and great travel service

thanks to the excellent organization of mecklenburger radtourteams we spent a carefree, fantastic holiday on the very charming island rügen. the bikes waren on the best technical level. the accommodations waren Good to very good for the price. gastronomically offers rügen also a lot, from the fish snack bar to the gourmet temple, everything was there. the selection of routes was very varied, for example. once on the Bodden side and once on the Baltic Sea coast, we really liked it. The only point of criticism is that it was not always clear where the path was on some sections of the route and we got lost twice. eg. in Seedorf. We only saw the "green M" as a signpost-orientation aid 2-3 times! It is advisable to drive the route yourself to see if anything has changed. all waren very friendly and helpful. we would love to come back rügen, preferably by bike and then we book again with the mecklenburger radtour. thank you Many warm greetings from the Emmental. Disappointing advance information

After paying the balance, we received the requested GPS data and the general information for the tour in PDF files from the intermediary. The important information for us, such as route description, sights, city maps and cycling map, unfortunately only at the arrival hotel. Unfortunately, the time to be interested in these things is extremely short from this date and also at the end of each stage. So you're not well informed when you're on the road. For all previous cycle tours with various companies, including yours, we received the complete documentation promptly after the final payment and expect this to continue. Yours sincerely Ch. and S. Fleischmann

beautiful island for a relaxing cycling tour

Rugen is a great place to cycle. Roads are not too busy and cycling between villages and coastal places is pleasant. Some hotels are great (Scheelehof in Stralsund); some are not. Be carefull not to accept a hotel downgrade as the compensation offered does not even cover your price difference! Best to also carefully evaluate an offered location change; staying in Nautilus (remote location in Putbus) is not the same as staying in an, officially similarly rated, hotel in Binz or Sellin.
- it's silly

Anonymous online review from 16.06.2021

Bike accommodation was excellent in Breege, Hotel Sassnitz ok, the other hotels have to reconsider the accommodation of e-bikes in particular.
