Or the lively capital, Berlin, just a short S-Bahn ride away? Whether you're looking for culture, nature, trendy life, or relaxation on your afternoon exploration – you're guaranteed to find the perfect place to start your cycling trip to Copenhagen.
Overnight place: Oranienburg/Hohen-Neuendorf/Berlin-Spandau/surroundings
Highlight of the day: Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum
During the Second World War, more than 200.000 people lost their lives in the immediate vicinity of flowering meadows, which these days frame well-kept single-family homes. In 1936, the Sachsenhausen concentration camp was set up in the small town near Oranienburg. Today there is a memorial here, which shows exhibitions on the life of those who were once imprisoned and on the history of the concentration camp in some of the original camp buildings and building remains.
