character of the route
The bike tour from Munich to Venice is a very varied tour. The most demanding section over the Alps (Innsbruck–Brenner) can be shortened by train or bus and the route through the Dolomites from Toblach to Cortina d'Ampezzo can be cycled along the former railway line without difficulty. The last two days it's downhill and flat towards the sea.
The cycle tour is suitable for children aged 16 and over.
Day 1: Munich
Individual arrival at the starting hotel in Munich.
Day 2: Munich – Bad Tölz (approx. 60 km)
Always along the Isar you leave Munich. It goes past monasteries, through Bavarian villages and through the Isar floodplains to the rafting town of Bad Tölz with its old town, which is well worth seeing.
Day 3: Bad Tölz – Schwaz/Jenbach or Maurach (approx. 68-77 km)
From Bad Tölz you cycle further along the Isar to the Sylvensteinsee. You cross the German-Austrian border through the Karwendel Nature Park and reach the holiday region of Achensee and the mountain lake of the same name. If you want, you can take a boat trip on Lake Achensee. Overnight accommodation in Maurach/Jenbach or Schwaz, depending on availability.
Day 4: Schwaz/Jenbach or Maurach – Innsbruck (approx. 43-50 km)
From Jenbach or Schwaz you cycle on the well-developed cycle path along the river Inn to Innsbruck, the provincial capital of Tyrol. Stroll through the historic old town, visit the well-known "Golden Roof", or take a trip to the Isel Mountain with its ski jump or the Tyrol Panorama, based on the battles under the supreme command of the freedom fighter Andreas Hofer.
Day 5: Innsbruck – Mühlbach (approx. 55 km + transfer)
The demanding section of today's route from Innsbruck to the Brenner Pass, the border between Austria and Italy and at the same time watershed and cultural axis, is covered by transfer by train or bus. Only a few buildings are reminiscent of the former border. From the Brenner you cycle on the old railway line to the Fugger town of Vipiteno and on to Fortezza and Mühlbach.
Day 6: Mühlbach – Niederdorf/Toblach (approx. 50-55 km)
A well-developed cycle path leads from Mühlbach through the Puster Valley, past the Mühlbacher Klause, a former border post. This once formed an ancient gateway between the provinces of Raetia and Norikum. Along the river Rienz you reach Bruneck. We recommend a visit to the folklore museum in Dietenheim, an open-air museum that documents rural life in South Tyrol, culture and customs, the Messner Mountain Museums on Kronplatz or Bruneck Castle. From Bruneck you cycle on the cycle path along the river Rienz to Niederdorf/Toblach, today's stage destination. After you have already spent a few kilometers on the saddle, we offer you a bike pit stop in Dobbiaco to check your rental bikes.

Day 7: Niederdorf/Toblach – Cortina d`Ampezzo (approx. 30-35 km)
From Niederdorf/Toblach you cycle on the cycle path along the former Dolomite railway through the Höhlensteintal past the Toblacher See and the war cemetery: It commemorates the First World War, whose front you cross here. Shortly thereafter, a unique panoramic view of the rock formation of the Three Peaks opens before you reach Lake Dürren. The cycle path leads slightly uphill to the border of the two provinces of Bozen and Belluno. Now you roll comfortably downhill on the former railway line, the valley opens up to the south, and you reach the Dolomite town of Cortina d'Ampezzo with its fantastic mountain scenery.
Day 8: Cortina d`Ampezzo – Longarone (approx. 55 km)
The cycle path runs steadily downhill, for the most part still on the former railway line, on the left you can see the Sorapis massif and on the right the rock formation of the "Five Towers" - Cinque Torri. You cycle further south through the Boite Valley to the Pieve di Cadore junction. From here the new cycle path will take you to Longarone. This city was rebuilt in a very short time after being inundated by a tidal wave in 1963 after a rock fall into the reservoir.
Day 9: Longarone – Conegliano (approx. 55 km)
You cycle further south into the Prosecco area past Lago di Santa Croce, which is very popular with water sports enthusiasts, to Conegliano.
Day 10: Conegliano – Treviso (approx. 50 km)
You leave the Alps behind and roll relaxed through the plain to Treviso, the city of watercourses and fashion. Again and again you can admire the villas of the Italian master builder Palladio, who completed his magnificent buildings here, in the immediate sphere of influence of the sea power Venice.
Day 11: Treviso -Venice mainland/Mestre (approx. 47 km)
On the home straight towards the Adriatic Sea, the river Sile will be your faithful companion and flanks the cycle path to Venice mainland/Mestre, from where you can set off on an extensive tour of discovery of the "Serenissima" with all its magnificent buildings.
Day 12: Venice Mainland/Mestre
Individual departure from Venice mainland/Mestre or possibility of extension.
