Enjoy the countryside and the sea by bike

It's been a while since our bike trip and I'd like to do the Bornholm & Rügen evaluate. First of all, I would like to say that we (both in our late 50s) enjoyed this bike tour, everything was perfect for us, weather / hotels / landscape. Getting there: We are coming by car and our own bicycles Stralsund arrived. We had informed ourselves about the parking situation in advance Stralsund informed. It is actually a huge disaster. There is no free parking in the city, and the prices are sometimes extortionate. A tip for bargain hunters: unload your luggage at the hotel and drive to a residential area, where you can still park for free. That worked out great for us. Hotel: The choice of hotels on this cycling trip was consistently positive. Each hotel had its own charm. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was always plentiful and very good. Travel documents: The travel documents and maps that were sent to us in advance were really very comprehensive and useful. The GPS files provided were only partially useful and I had to adapt them for each day. If you are interested, I have uploaded our individual routes to Komoot. Daily stages: I don't want to go into the individual routes any further. But you can tell from the condition and signage of the cycle paths whether you are cycling in Denmark or Germany. Germany still has a lot to do in that regard, but the tour operator can't do anything about this problem. On the second day we went from Breege through the national park to the Königstuhl and then on to Sassnitz. A great route through beautiful old beech forests, but the route is also very hilly. For us as e-bike riders it was no problem, the battery was almost empty when we arrived at the hotel in Sassnitz. But we felt sorry for the cyclists without electric support. We saw some eco-bike riders pushing their bikes. So if you don't ride an e-bike, you should have had a good breakfast. There are also some mountains to climb on Bornholm. It is very hilly, especially to the Hammerhus fortress, but it is worth seeing. Luggage transfer: The suitcases were always already in the hotel when we got there. The suitcase transport to and from the ferry was also well organized. Tip: Only take one suitcase per person (it should have wheels). You have to push your bike and suitcase onto the ferry yourself, it is a few hundred meters to the ferry in Sassnitz and Rönne. Negative: On the last day of cycling we went from Putbus back to Stralsund. Arrived there, the trip was over from the organizer's point of view. Now you have a choice: do you start your journey home by train/car, sweaty in cycling clothes, or book an additional night at your own expense in a hotel in Stralsund. We took a hotel. Since this trip is not exactly a bargain, at least one night at the destination should be included. For us, this was the first of many bike tours that we have done so far, where such a brutal cut was made at the end. That could really be improved. Our conclusion: It was a very nice bike tour, which has a small flaw at the end. We would book this trip again and if you love the sea and cycling like we do, this trip is a must.
