Learn moreBornholm is a small paradise for cyclists and offers Scandinavian landscapes in miniature like from a picture book. The whole island is developed with bike paths. You cycle around the whole island on the coastal cycle path and go on excursions in between.
Individual arrival at the ferry terminal in Mukran is at your own expense. You will board the ferry with your luggage (and, if applicable, your own bicycles). After approximately 3,5 hours on the ferry (excluding bicycles), you will reach Rønne on Bornholm. Our guest coordinator will handle your luggage and provide tour information on the ferry. Rental bikes will be handed over at the port or at your starting hotel in Rønne.

Today you explore the west of the island with the cliffs around Jons Kapel. You cycle to Hasle. Here you can expect traditionally smoked fish and a small fish museum. Passing the castle ruins of Hammershus you drive to Allinge or to Sandkas.

Explore the north of Bornholm. The Hammeren, a beautiful nature reserve, invites you to go hiking and Sandvig Bay, with its fine sandy beach, invites you to swim. Drive back via Allinge to Sandkas.

Follow the undulating coastline to Gudhjem. Along the way, you'll find the Holy Cathedral cliffs and the art museum, both well worth a visit. Take a look inside the Baltic Sea Glass glassblowing workshop and immerse yourself in a world of shapes and colors. The smokehouses in Gudhjem and Svaneke are famous for their fish – the "Bornholmer" is highly recommended.
Place to stay: Svaneke, Balka or Nexø
Today we're heading to the center of the island. Leave Svaneke and head towards Øesterlars. Admire the largest and oldest round church on the island. Your route then takes you into the Almindigen forest. From the Rytterknegten observation tower, you'll have a fantastic panoramic view.

From Nexø you follow the cycle path inland. Cycle through wide fields and meadows towards Aakirkeby. Visit the oldest stone church on the island.
Overnight stay: Rønne
After breakfast, we'll take the ferry back to Mukran (excluding bicycles). Departure is on your own.

Attention: This trip is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Train : to/from Sassnitz main station, then by bus (line 20) or taxi (approx. €18) to the Mukran ferry port
Car : Long-term parking at the passenger terminal (Terminal 1) with parking meters approx. €6,00 / day
Flight: to/from Copenhagen. Alternatively, you can also travel from Copenhagen by Bornholmerbus. This bus runs directly from the terminal of Copenhagen International Airport (Kastrup) via the central train station and the Öresund Bridge through Sweden to Ystad. In Ystad, the bus takes the fast ferry to Rønne. Travel time is approximately 3,5 hours.

If you arrive with your own bicycle, you will need to transport your luggage and bicycle to the ferry yourself, over a longer distance. We therefore recommend booking a rental bike, which will be available on Bornholm.
