Travel to St. Ives on your own.
In the southwest of Great Britain you will experience fascinating contrasts: in the northwest, wild, rocky coasts and rugged headlands dominate. After passing Lands End, golden beaches, heather, gorse and turquoise waters open up. This diversity takes you to the lively port town of Penzance, favored by Cornwall's mild climate. These contrasts make a week of hiking along the South West Coast Path particularly appealing.
After transfer to the North Cliffs, hike above steep cliffs around Godrevy, where you may spot seals and birds. You reach Hayle harbor via dune paths and then cross a nature reserve. After visiting St Uny's Church in Lelant, follow the St Michaels Way pilgrimage route to Carbis Bay before heading along flower-filled front gardens to Porthminster Beach in St Ives.
You hike around the peninsula "The Island" with its picturesque chapel - an ideal photo opportunity. We head west along the Coastal Path past Man's Head and Clodgy Point. Today's stage is characterized by constant ups and downs on rocky and steep paths high above the sea, with wonderful views of the sea and plateaus rewarding the efforts. At your destination in Zennor, we recommend visiting the local church and pub. The return journey to St. Ives is by double-decker panoramic bus.
In the morning you continue your walk from Zennor along the coastal path. The route leads over rocky cliffs with challenging ascents and descents. Blooming gorse and orchids add color accents over the sea. In the afternoon you pass the historic tin mines of Geevor. After hiking through the mine workings, the trail heads inland along dirt roads to St. Just.
The descent through the forest leads along the river back to the Cornish coast, from where you can enjoy impressive distant views of rugged islands, lighthouses and shipwrecks. The Scilly Islands loom on the horizon. You reach Land's End, the most westerly point in Britain, where a pub awaits you in the wilderness. The route to Porthcurno is characterized by cliffs, coves and flowering plains. Visit the coastal monitoring station before reaching the Caribbean-style Porthcurno Bay with its white sandy beach and turquoise waters. From there a bus will take you back to St. Just.
From Porthcurno you walk across the plateaus of the southwest coast, with views of picturesque bays, to the fishing village of Penberth Cove. The path leads through a varied flora, past maquis
bushes and through shady forests. In Lamorna Bay you can enjoy southern flair and an ice cream shop. Continuing through the Kemyel Nature Reserve on the coastal path, you will reach Mousehole in the afternoon with its colorful fishing boats in the harbor. After a break in a cafe or pub, you can take the shuttle bus to Penzance.
On the final day of hiking, walk from Marazion to St. Michael Mount, accessible by foot or water taxi depending on the tide. Alternatively, you can take the St. Michael pilgrimage route, which leads through the interior and ends at the “Steeple” viewpoint. From there we go to the train station and back to Penzance.
