Your first stage takes you through the upper Danube valley to Schlögen. Further to Engelhartszell you can visit the only Trappist monastery in Austria. It is known for its rococo church. Delicious liqueurs are brewed in the monastery cellar. Then you cycle to the impressive "Schlögener Schlinge", where the Danube makes a 180-degree turn.

The narrow, densely wooded valley slowly widens. You cycle through the fertile Eferding Basin in the direction of Linz. Enjoy a stroll through the magical old town.

Start today's tour with a detour to Enns, the oldest town in Austria. You will then cycle through beautiful meadow landscapes and the tranquil hinterland, past the Celtic village of Mitterkirche, the collegiate church in Baumgartenberg and the romantic Clam Castle. The journey through the Danube landscape of the Strudengau and Nibelungengau impresses with high, densely forested rock formations to the left and right of the Danube. The pilgrimage church of Maria Taferl is enthroned high above the Danube and the Benedictine Abbey of Melk greets you from afar high above the Danube.

You leave the unique cultural landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage region of Wachau by train. Once you have arrived in Tulln, you continue by bike. Before Vienna, the valley narrows again, the Danube passes through the Vienna Gate on the edge of the Vienna Woods and leads you via Klosterneuburg, where you can visit the Verdun Altar, the highlight of medieval goldsmith art. to the waltz city of Vienna.

The Schüttinsel is a paradise for birds and fish. In the middle of this untouched landscape with small islands you will find dreamy farming villages and a labyrinth of branches of the Danube. Your destination for the day is the city of Györ, located at the mouth of 3 rivers. The city enchants with its baroque old town. Recommendation: Take the train between Mosonmagyarovar and Györ. Train tickets are available at the train station from ticket machines and cost around €1 per journey. This shortens the cycling stage to a total of approx. 44 km.

The Babolna National Stud is world famous for its Arabian breeding. Cycle through gently rolling agricultural land back to the Danube to the divided town of Komarom, King Matthias's favorite town.

You cycle along the Slovakian bank of the Danube on causeways and side roads with little traffic through small farming villages and past the Roman fort of Kelemantia to the bishop and royal town of Esztergom, which with the basilica as the largest church in Hungary is a glamorous highlight of this journey.

In the midst of the hilly landscape, the stream divides: On the Szentendre Island you cycle through small, idyllic villages.
