The Gherkin Cycle Path is a 250 km long circular route and it connects sights in the Upper and Lower Spreewald as well as on the outskirts. Almost flat terrain, a well-developed network of cycle paths and a unique forest, meadow and river landscape offer the best conditions. The cucumber is your constant companion on the cucumber cycle path tour. Enjoy Spreewald specialties and visit the only gherkin museum in Germany in Lehde.

During the day you travel to Cottbus on your own. With its large parks and gardens, the Lusatian metropolis on the edge of the Spreewald is one of the greenest cities in Germany. The old town around the Altmarkt invites you to stroll and enjoy a pleasant end to the day.
Overnight place: Cottbus
Burg, the gateway to the Oberspreewald, can be reached quickly. A short detour to the White Stork Center in Vetschau is well worth it. Your path continues to Lehde, the village in the Spreewald, which still radiates its original character today. Here the barge is still the most important means of transport. A network of countless flows accompanies you to Lübbenau.
Overnight place: Lübbenau or the surrounding area
You leave Lübbenau, not without enjoying the colorful hustle and bustle of the market at one of the ferry ports. The path leads from Lübben to the Unterspreewald. A detour to Lake Köthener or to Tropical Island (on your own) is recommended.
Overnight place: Krausnick or Schlepzig
Through a wonderful pond landscape, you return to Lübben and from there on to Straupitz with its well-known Schinkelkirche and the Dutch mill. Enjoy the silence and the beauty of nature. Shortly thereafter, Burg, one of the three main towns in the Spreewald, awaits us. The scattered settlement is criss-crossed by countless watercourses and offers a lot of sights.
Overnight place: Castle
Cycle today on the old Spreewaldbahn route. You will reach the stork village of Dissen with its interesting local history museum. Experience a successful renaturation of the river between Dissen and Maiberg. The new Spree flood plain is the habitat of many new plant and animal species and will inspire you. Then you reach the old fortress town of Peitz and cycle through the Peitz ponds. Before you reach Cottbus, you should take a look at the future "Baltic Sea", which is being created from a former lignite opencast mine.

After breakfast, you will travel home on your own or with an extension.
