You start in Nuremberg and get to know medieval Rothenburg, the residential city of Ansbach and the cathedral city of Bamberg along the way. Numerous mighty castles and palaces watch over your path
Nuremberg – a thousand years of history: the old imperial city with its imposing imperial castle, famous churches and museums attracts tourists from near and far. In the midst of the half-million metropolis, town houses, proud churches, the castle and the five-kilometre ring of walls have risen again.
Overnight place: Nuremberg
The Regnitz cycle path starts right in the old town of Nuremberg - the largest city in Franconia. Today we continue north through green meadows and shady alluvial forest. On the sand fields typical of the Regnitztal you roll into the Huguenot, university and industrial city of Erlangen.

With the Steigerwald on your left and Franconian Switzerland on your right, you cycle downstream through the Regnitz valley and enjoy beautiful landscapes as well as impressive fortifications. You cross the river twice, at the Strullendorf lock and at the Hirschaid hydroelectric power station Main- Danube Canal.
Overnight place: Bamberg
First you cycle back a few kilometers of yesterday's route, if you want to shorten today's stage, you can take the train to Hirschaid (not included). Now follow the valley of the little river Aisch to Neustadt, where a billy goat makes its rounds on the town hall every hour.

You should make a stop in Bad Windsheim and visit the Franconian open-air museum. Historic buildings have been rebuilt here and you can enjoy the home-brewed beer in the inn and several beer gardens. If you still have room for dessert in Rothenburg in the evening in Rothenburg, you should definitely try the Rothenburger Schneeballen (besides the obligatory beer).

You leave the romantic Tauber Valley and follow the Burgenstraße cycle path. In Colmberg, the mighty Zollernburg towers over the town. From here it goes along the Franconian Rezat to Ansbach, a magnificent margravial residence. Follow the Burgenstraße via Lichtenau to Wolframs-Eschenbach. The medieval town is dedicated to the Parzival poet and the Teutonic Order. So there is a lot to see!

Continue on the Burgenstraße cycle path and cycle past the moated castle in Lichtenau to Roth. Visit the Margrave's Castle of Ratibor before walking along the Main-Danube Canal to Nuremberg. The mighty castle, which has housed numerous emperors and kings, towers over the old imperial city.
