Dolomites hike

Starting from the “Pearl of the Dolomite Lakes”, Lake Braies (1.494 m), you hike through the romantic area of ​​the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, which is one of the largest protected areas in South Tyrol. In the shadow of the imposing Seekofel massif you reach the Fojedöra high alpine pasture. Stop by and enjoy the homemade bread and the tasty alpine cheese. You hike through the lonely high valley past the High Alpine Lake and finally reach the highest point. Far down in the valley you can
you can already see the villages of the Val Badia.

Overnight place: St. Vigil

The Piz de Plaies cable car takes you from St. Vigil to the starting point. The path leads through easy forest and meadow terrain to Piz de Corn. On the opposite side, the Peitlerkofel towers. You continue hiking to the Ritjoch. The mighty flanks of the Heiligkreuzkofel are always in view. At the foot of the Neuner and Zehnerspitze you reach the Heiligkreuz refuge. After a short descent, you can take the train to Abtei. At the end of the hike, you can take a transfer to Sankt Kassian.

Overnight place: St. Cassian

The cable car takes you back up to the pretty alpine huts above Abtei. The view invites you to linger: the peaks of Sella, Puezgruppe, Peitlerkofel and Kreuzkofel seem close enough to touch. You hike through thinning larch and pine forests towards St. Kassian.

Overnight place: Like the day before St. Kassian

At first the path runs comfortably along the valley floor to Capanna Alpina. In the shadow of the majestic peaks of Fanes and Conturines, you hike to the Scottoni refuge and continue to the crystal-clear Lake Lagazuoi at the foot of the Scottoni Peak, in whose water the bizarre peaks of the Fanes Dolomites are reflected. You hike along the Dolomites High Trail to Lagazuoi, which was converted into a real fortress with tunnels and trenches by the soldiers during the First World War. It is possible to take the cable car directly from the summit to the Falzarego Pass and then take the bus to Cortina. Below the Tofanen you hike to Pocol and from there take the bus to Cortina.

Overnight place: cortina d'Ampezzo

The last day of hiking starts in the center of Cortina d'Ampezzo. At first it's a relatively comfortable journey through forests and meadows to the Rifugio Mietres, from where you can take one last look at Cortina. A fantastic panorama at the highest point will soon make you forget the effort of the climb. Afterwards it's almost all downhill through the idyllic Val Padeon to the end point of the stage in Ospitale. You then take the bus back to Hochpustertal.
