From the center of Magdeburg it goes along the Elbe meadows. In Hohenwarte you should look at the lock system. We continue to Buch, where a statue of Roland and a Dutch windmill can be seen. Tangermünde's lovingly renovated old town is surrounded by an impressive city wall with numerous towers and fortified gates.
Overnight place: Tangermünde
Leave Tangermünde with a special experience, the crossing with a yaw cable ferry to the other bank of the Elbe. On the way you should enjoy the historic town center and a wonderful view of the Elbe valley in Arneburg. Then it continues through the green Elbe landscape of the Altmark. Today's destination, Havelberg, is one of the oldest dioceses east of the Elbe. The Romanesque-Gothic cathedral shows the way to the Elbe town of Havelberg from afar.
Overnight place: Havelberg
You cycle through the wide landscape of the Prignitz on dyke paths along the Elbe. On the way you come to Rühstädt, the village with the most storks in Germany.
The destination is the Elbe town of Wittenberge in the Prignitz.
Overnight place: Wittenberge
Today you cycle through the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve "Flusslandschaft Elbe" along the Elbe via Dömitz to Gartow and Wittenberge. In Dömitz you can visit one of the most impressive fortresses in Northern Europe (on your own). The town of Lenzen, on the other hand, awaits you with half-timbered houses and a castle that are well worth seeing.
Overnight place: Hitzacker
From Hitzacker, you go to Boizenburg. Here, the tile museum gives an insight into craftsmanship and production (on your own initiative). On the left bank of the Elbe, you cycle on a flat path with a view of the hilly side on the right bank of the Elbe, where steep banks and slopes offer an attractive contrast to the otherwise flat landscape. On the way, the Elbe Castle in Bleckede (on your own initiative) invites you to linger. The shipping town of Lauenburg with its half-timbered houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as the Elbe Shipping Museum, is your destination for the day.
Overnight place: Lauenburg
Going with the flow, leave Lauenburg along the Elbe and cycle through the wide green land of the Elbmarsch. The destination of today's stage is the Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
Overnight place: Hamburg
After breakfast, you will travel home on your own. Musicals, theatres, excellent restaurants, 1.000 opportunities for shopping and a multitude of sights are what make the Hanseatic city so attractive. On request, we can book additional nights for you in the effervescent metropolis on the Elbe.
