Enns bike path

A bike tour along the Enns means immersing yourself in breathtaking natural landscapes! From the ski mountains of the Salzburger Sportwelt, along the Dachstein in Schladming in Styria, through the national parks Gesäuse and Kalkalpen to the Upper Austrian provincial capital Linz. The slightly hilly Enns Cycle Path requires a certain level of fitness, but this tour is a nice trip for everyone due to the moderate daily stages.

Follow the still-narrow Enns River across into Styria and soon marvel at the breathtaking south faces of the Dachstein massif before reaching the World Ski Championships resort of Schladming. Cycle leisurely through the now wide valley until a short climb to Gröbming concludes the stage. Example hotel: Landhaus Amadeus

The journey through the wide valley is pleasant. The jagged peaks of the Gesäuse Mountains can already be seen in the distance. You reach Admont. Plan a stop at the magnificent Benedictine abbey, home to the world's largest abbey library. Example hotel: Hotel Spirodom

It's getting narrow. The Enns River carves its way through the wild Gesäuse National Park. This 20-kilometer-long gorge is certainly one of Austria's most impressive natural spectacles. Hotel example: Hotel Hensle

The imposing Gallenstein Castle bids you farewell as you head towards Upper Austria. Majestic, forested mountains form the Kalkalpen National Park. Endangered species such as the lynx and eagle are native to this area. For the 19 km/500 m ascent from St. Gallen to Mooshöhe, please take the included shuttle bus. Example hotel: Hotel Kirchenwirt

Overnight stay: Großraming

During the heyday of the iron trade, the Enns River was of great economic importance. Raw ore was transported on rafts to knife makers and knife manufacturers. Museums and demonstration workshops bring this past to life. Hotel example: Stadthotel Styria

Overnight stay in Steyr

With its confluence with the Steyr, the Enns is now a substantial river that flows gently past the town of the same name. Enns is considered the oldest town in Austria, having been settled by Celts and Romans. This era is depicted in the Lauriacum Museum. Example hotel: Arcotel Hotel Nike

Parking
The arrival hotel has its own garage. For EUR 10 per day you can park your car there for the duration of the cycle tour on the Enns cycle path. Payment is made directly on site. Reservation is not required. You can also park your car for free in Radstadt. There is an unguarded parking lot about 100 m from the hotel where you can leave your car for the duration of your cycling tour in Austria.
