Family cycling from Linz to Vienna

Our family bike tour on the Danube is a shared experience for the young and the young at heart. Benefit from short bike rides, child-friendly accommodation and plenty of time for unplanned stops. The tour starts in Linz and ends in the waltz metropolis and cosmopolitan city of Vienna. In between you can experience the beautiful river landscape of the Wachau.

After a hearty breakfast, pick up your rental bikes and then set off towards Mitterkirchen. The first highlight awaits you here, the Celtic village. The Hallstatt period houses complex depicts the lives of people who lived more than 2.700 years ago. You are warmly welcomed to Wallsee for the night!

Your bike tour takes you to the wonderful baroque town of Grein. Pay a visit to the oldest city theater in Austria. Would you like some ice cream? The selection of ice cream flavors in Schörgi's Eispavillon is huge. The journey continues to Marbach, your destination for today. Tip: When the weather is nice, it's worth visiting the leisure and water sports paradise of Ardagger.

Cycle from Marbach via Pöchlarn and after a few kilometers you cycle into the famous Wachau. You can admire the magnificent Benedictine monastery in Melk from afar. We continue through vineyards to Spitz, at the foot of the 1000 Bucket Mountain.

Numerous possibilities for a family excursion are waiting for you: Dürnstein and Aggstein castle ruins, Spitz shipping museum, a boat trip and much more. Or you can use the well-tended Danube beaches for a relaxing bathing day in the cool waters.

Gentle vineyards line the banks of the Danube on both sides. The Danube Cycle Path takes you past well-known towns like Weißenkirchen and Dürnstein before you reach Krems Arrive. High above, you can glimpse many impressive castles, where robber knights once roamed. Continue by train to Tulln, where Lower Austria's largest adventure and nature playground awaits. Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely cycle to Stockerau.

With your destination in mind, you drive comfortably through the vastness of the Tullnerfeld to the Danube metropolis of Vienna. Visit to the famous amusement park "Prater" and a ride on the Wiener Riesenrad.

Train: to Linz train station/ from Vienna train station

Parking: Underground parking garage at Linz train station, Kärntnerstraße 18, 4020 Linz – The garage is located opposite the train station, next to the Hotel Ibis. The cost for 7 days is approximately €60,00. Tickets must be pre-ordered (buerolinz@bip.com or Monday to Friday at +43-(0)732-78 36 02). Please specify the parking duration (exact arrival and departure dates) and your address, including your email address. From Monday to Friday, tickets can be collected and paid for at the counter in the underground garage. On weekends, tickets will be available at the reception desk of the Hotel Ibis and must be paid for there.
