Individual arrival at the starting hotel in Munich.
Overnight place: Munich
The “Munich-Venezia” long-distance cycle path combines pure cycling enjoyment with the experience of crossing the Alps, starting from Germany via Austria to Italy and the Adriatic. On cycle paths, cycle routes or small side roads, active leisure cyclists experience three countries with their tourist regions and many outstanding natural and cultural beauties. “Munich-Venezia” leads from the Isar metropolis of Munich, past the Bavarian lakes and along the rivers over the Tyrolean Inn Valley, through the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Dolomites, to Treviso and finally to the Doge's Palaces and canals in the lagoon city of Venice.
Individual arrival at the starting hotel in Munich.
Overnight place: Munich
Always along the Isar you leave Munich. It goes past monasteries, through Bavarian villages and through the Isar floodplains to the rafting town of Bad Tölz with its old town, which is well worth seeing.
Overnight place: Bad Tolz
From Bad Tölz you cycle further along the Isar to the Sylvensteinsee. You cross the German-Austrian border through the Karwendel Nature Park and reach the Achensee holiday region and the mountain lake of the same name. If you want, you can take a boat trip on the Achensee.
Overnight place: Maurach/Jenbach or Schwaz
From Jenbach or Schwaz you cycle on the well-developed cycle path along the River Inn to the state capital of Tyrol, Innsbruck. Stroll through the historic old town, visit the famous “Golden Roof”, or take a trip to Mount Isel with its ski jump or the Tyrol Panorama, based on the battles under the command of the freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. The demanding section of today's route from Innsbruck to the Brenner Pass, the border between Austria and Italy and at the same time a watershed and cultural axis, is covered by transfer by train or bus. Only a few buildings remain as reminders of the former border. From the Brenner you cycle on the old railway line to the Fugger town of Vipiteno and on to Franzensfeste and Mühlbach.
Overnight place: Millstream
From Mühlbach, a well-developed cycle path leads through the Pustertal, past the Mühlbacher Klause, a former border post. This once formed an ancient gate between the provinces of Raetia and Noricum. You will reach Bruneck along the Rienz river. We recommend a visit to the Folklore Museum in Dietenheim, an open-air museum that documents rural life in South Tyrol, culture and customs, the Messner Mountain Museums at Kronplatz or Bruneck Castle. From Bruneck, you cycle along the cycle path along the Rienz river to Niederdorf/Toblach, your destination for today. After you have already spent a few kilometers in the saddle, we offer you a bike pit stop in Toblach to check your bike (rental bikes).
Overnight place: Niederdorf/Toblach
Today you follow the cycle path on the former Dolomite Railway through the Höhlenstein Valley past Lake Toblach and the war cemetery: it is a reminder of the First World War, whose front you are crossing here. Shortly afterwards, a unique panoramic view of the rock formation of the Three Peaks opens up before you reach Lake Landro. The cycle path climbs slightly and leads to the border of the two provinces of Bolzano and Belluno. Now you roll comfortably downhill on the former railway line, the valley opens up to the south, and you reach the Dolomite town of Cortina d'Ampezzo with its stunning mountain backdrop. Steadily downhill, mostly still on the former railway line, on the left you can see the Sorapis mountain range and on the right the rock formation of the "Five Towers" - Cinque Torri. You cycle further south through the Boite Valley to the junction of Pieve di Cadore.
Overnight place: Pieve di Cadore
The newly built cycle path takes you to Longarone. This town was rebuilt in a very short space of time after it was flooded by a tidal wave in 1963 following a rockslide at the former Vajont dam. You then cycle on to today's destination, Conegliano.
Overnight place: Conegliano
You leave the Alps behind you and roll relaxed through the plains to Treviso, the city of waterways and fashion. Along the way you can always admire villas by the Italian architect Palladio, who completed his magnificent buildings primarily here, in the immediate area of influence of the naval power of Venice. On the home stretch towards the Adriatic Sea, the river Sile will be your faithful companion and flanks the cycle path to mainland Venice/Mestre, from where you can set off on an extensive tour of discovery of the “Serenissima” with all its magnificent buildings.
Overnight place: Venice Mainland/Mestre
