Start in the wild and romantic Rhön at an altitude of 950 m and follow the well-signposted Fulda cycle path down into the valley. Through meadows and fields, mostly directly along the idyllic river, you roll through beautiful half-timbered towns and along the wooded Vogelsberg. You whizz along the asphalted cycle path through the river valley at a really leisurely pace. It's great that the overall very flat route gives you plenty of time to get to know the region's diverse sights! You will be delighted by the baroque quarter of Fulda with its cathedral, city palace, orangery and the noble palace, and the highlight is Hann. Münden, a half-timbered town of European standing. Your cycle tour ends here at the confluence of the Fulda and Werra.

From Fulda you can easily reach the Rhön in beautiful Gersfeld in 40 minutes by train. Free parking at the hotel, rental bikes at the hotel.

Overnight location: Gersfeld

In the morning, a short transfer (10 km) will take you and your bikes up to an altitude of 950 m. You will follow the young Fulda downhill on well-developed cycle paths through the beautiful natural landscape of the Rhön. In Fulda, you should take enough time to visit the famous Baroque quarter.

Today you will immerse yourself in the wooded Vogelsberg. The romantic castle town of Schlitz will delight you before you reach the festival town of Bad Hersfeld (tickets can be purchased in advance on request).

Another day with highlights. You roll through the Fuldaauen in Kassel and reach Hann. Münden - one of the seven most beautifully situated cities in the world (Alexander von Humboldt). Idyllically located at the confluence of the Werra and Fulda, the old town still enchants all visitors with over 700 half-timbered houses from six centuries.

Very nice bike ride

A very nice bike ride. Wasserkuppe to Hann.Münden we liked it very much. Only a few things you can do better: => Hotel with no elevator and rooms on the top floor. Hard work at the end of a sporting day doesn't have to be. => Rooms not exposed to the noise. => Bikes: Two bags and a handlebar bag with map holder like last time. => Wheels: Lubricated chains would be nice. We had to buy chain oil. => Wheels: Bremsreplace blocks before metal on metal.

Fulda cycle path

It was a very nice bike trip with good bike paths and excellent signage. In the hotels there was always a very good breakfast buffet. Staff and atmosphere was excellent everywhere. Only in one hotel was the furnishing of the room less good.
