The Loire cycle tour impresses with diversity and special splendor: a light-filled landscape with leisurely flowing watercourses alternates with sunny vineyards, dreamy valleys and villages. In this cultural landscape rich in history, lovers of imaginative architecture will go into raptures: 300 magnificent castle complexes and palaces crown the Loire Valley. The most beautiful of them are stops on this bike tour.
The start and end point is the lively student city of Tours. First, you will ride your e-bikes to Villandry, where you will visit the famous castle gardens. The picturesque Chinon is your starting point to the Abbey of Fontevraud: one of the largest monasteries in Europe and the final resting place of Richard the Lionheart. You stop at the birthplace of the writer and humanist Rabelais and visit the Renaissance castle of Azay-le-Rideau on the Indre. Chenonceaux impresses with its “women’s castle” that majestically spans the Cher. Chambord is another highlight: the most impressive of all the castles in the “Valley of the Kings” housed the huge court of Francis I in the 16th century. He also employed Leonardo da Vinci, whose name is closely linked to the history of Amboise.
Enjoy excellent French cuisine and the elegant, gentle Loire wines on your journey through the “Garden of France”.

Individual arrival at the start hotel.
a) Flight to Paris. Train to Tours (approx. 250 km).
b) Train: From Paris there are good (TGV) train connections to Tours.
c) Car: Parking options at the starting point of the trip (charges apply).
At 19 p.m. our tour guide will welcome you to the centrally located Le Grand Hotel in Tours. For dinner you go to a restaurant.

Your first cycling stage runs along the Cher to Villandry Castle. After visiting the famous gardens, we head to Langeais on the banks of the Loire. At the edge of the Forêt de Chinon you can see the backdrop of Ussé Castle before you reach the charming Chinon on the Vienne on small country roads. You sleep two nights at the Hotel de France. In the evening you eat in a restaurant.

The birthplace of the writer François Rabelais and the valley in which his book “Gargantua” is set are on your way to Fontevraud. Richard the Lionheart found his final resting place in the famous abbey. You cycle through well-tended vineyards to Candes-St.-Martin with its Romanesque church. Your route leads back to Chinon along the Vienne. The evening is at leisure.

You leave Chinon heading north. Through old vineyards and lonely villages we reach picturesque Crissay, which, with its houses from the 15th century, is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Once you arrive in Azay-le-Rideau, you have the opportunity to visit the enchanting Renaissance castle. You will stay overnight at the Hotel Le Grand Monarque and eat in a restaurant.

Today you will experience a scenic highlight: through the romantic river landscape of the Indre you reach the pretty Montbazon. A small ridge has to be climbed, then you roll into the peaceful valley of the Cher. Dreamy little villages accompany you on your way to Chenonceaux with its magnificent castle built in a unique location above the river. You sleep and dine at the Hotel Le Bon Laboureur

Via Monrichard you cycle to Chambord, the most impressive of all the Loire castles. The impression remains unforgettable when the multi-towered silhouette of the huge palace complex appears in the middle of the park landscape. Later you can choose whether to reach Blois by bike or by transfer. You will stay overnight at the Hotel Mercure Center (except the first date). The evening is at leisure.

In the morning you follow the leisurely flowing Loire to Amboise. Your tour guides will prepare the picnic on the île d'Or, with a view of the castle of Amboise: this became the royal residence under Charles VIII. On hidden paths and through vineyards you will finally reach Tours and your Grand Hotel on your bikes. Before the final dinner there is still time for a short city tour with a stop at the Basilica of St. Martin.
