Great Spreewald tour

Dream tour through the Spreewald

A wonderful tour, mostly on car-free paths, from time to time gravel paths, but an all the more beautiful landscape; well-chosen hotels; a very precise description of the way; Contact persons are there when you need them; in short, it doesn't get any better. We are two married couples (65 and 72 years old with normal bikes and 75 and 79 years old with e-bikes) and we did this wonderful tour at temperatures of 33°C and more. In between, every bathing lake was ours. Only to be recommended!

We were happy to spend the night in the center of Lübbenau. The concert was in the castle and it was a beautiful place.

Beautiful round trip through the Spreewald with some weaknesses

Since my wife was absent at short notice due to a fractured kneecap, a friend canceled his booked single room and stayed with me in a double room. This saved him €440. The short-term cancellation was made by the employees of the Mecklenburger Radtour handled professionally, so that I received the travel documents with the corrected invoice in good time. The journey over 800 km by car took an hour longer than planned because of a mega construction site near Nossen. The aging Hotel SORAT in Cottbus definitely does not correspond to the 4* category. But since we only wanted to stay overnight and have breakfast, so be it. The hotels in Lübbenau (a seminar and conference hotel), the Hotel Spreeblick in Lübben and the Waldhotel Eiche - far outside of Burg - did not correspond to the 4* level. The restaurant in the Lübbenau seminar and conference hotel was closed, so we had to walk to a Greek restaurant for half an hour. The ancient garage for the pedelecs, far away, could not be locked. The Waldhotel Eiche - 5 km from the center of Burg - is so far away from the thermal baths that you cannot redeem the voucher for a visit. Only the Spreewald resort "Seinerzeit" offers 4* comfort. In this respect, it is not advisable to book hotel category II, which is significantly more expensive than I. Otherwise the trip was well organized. Although the luggage was usually picked up later than 9:00 a.m., it always got to its destination on time. The tour description in the spiral booklet is not bad. However, it is advisable to download the komoot.de app for €19,99 (worldwide). She guides you professionally with voice commands at every turn, guaranteed to be on the right route. On the last day of the tour, komoot.de found a much nicer route than that specified in the spiral booklet. Another tip if someone has a bicycle breakdown: ADAC members have been receiving free help from a "yellow angel" for a good six months. My friend had a flat tire that we couldn't determine the cause of. We called 222222 in Munich from our cell phone. The lady on duty on the phone promised us help within the hour. The "yellow angel" came a quarter of an hour later, as he had traveled 150 km from Berlin, but he patched a hole in the rear tube of the bicycle professionally and free of charge - a great service! Conclusion: We can definitely recommend the Great Spreewald Tour (Spr04) with reservations. It offers a well thought-out tour and wonderful scenic impressions. However, when selecting hotels, the organizer should also check during the season whether the hotel category corresponds to the information provided by the hotel and whether it is possible to have dinner in the hotel. In addition, an e-bike garage must be lockable!

Pure deceleration

Lots of nature: Sometimes we didn't meet a soul. As a contrast program, we were offered the summer festival in Lübbenau and the Waltz Night in Cottbus as a highlight. The route guidance via Komoot and the map material certainly took us everywhere. All in all a successful holiday for us.
