Dream Trails of Tuscany – from Pisa via Lucca and Florence to Siena

Gently rolling hills with cypresses and olive groves, carefully restored rural estates, Renaissance works of art, good food, full-bodied wine – the name Tuscany awakens longings for an upscale and refined lifestyle all over the world.

On this cycling trip we try to satisfy some of these longings. Both the mind and the body get their money's worth on this journey of discovery: you cycle through spectacular hilly landscapes and experience pure culture in the medieval and Renaissance cities. You stay in very good hotels and enjoy typical Tuscan cuisine and wines. A region - made for a relaxed e-bike trip.

You start in Pisa, the lively trading and university city on the Arno. Your bikes take you further to proud Lucca with its Renaissance city walls, unique in Europe. From the sophisticated spa culture of the 19th century in Montecatini Terme, you go via Vinci to the "pearl of the Renaissance": Florence.

Further south, you will discover the famous towers of San Gimignano and the Etruscan Volterra before reaching Siena, the “most Gothic city in Italy”, on your e-bikes.

Our tour guide will welcome you at the Hotel Bologna at 17 p.m. Take a walk together to see the city's sights. In the evening you eat in a restaurant.

Flat roads take you to the mouth of the Arno at Lake Massaciuccoli. After a short climb, you cycle along the Serchio river embankment to Lucca. You cross the Pescia valley with millions of cut flowers and arrive in Montecatini Terme at your Grand Hotel Croce di Malta (except for the first date). The cable car takes you up to Montecatini Alto to your restaurant.

With Monte Albano in view, you will reach Vinci, the birthplace of the great Leonardo, on your e-bikes. Your cycle route leads down to the Arno, which you will follow a little way towards Florence. A short transfer will take you to your beautiful Hotel Mulino di Firenze, a former water mill from the 14th century, just outside the city (two nights). This is also where you will have dinner tonight.

You will cycle along the Arno, which will take you to the center of Florence. After the city tour, you will have the rest of the day and the evening in Florence/in the hotel (with pool and spa) at your leisure. You can also use the hotel's shuttle service.

The most scenic and challenging day awaits you: you'll be climbing again and again, with beautiful views of Florence and the Tuscan hills. The towers of San Gimignano rise up from afar. You'll sleep and eat for the next two nights a few kilometers away in the charming country hotel Casolare Le Terre Rosse.

You will cycle up and down small country roads through fields and olive groves to Volterra. Majestically situated on a hill, it has been protected by a ring of walls since Etruscan times. You will stop for a coffee break and take a sightseeing tour in San Gimignano. Back at the hotel, you can jump into the pool in the middle of a spacious garden.

First, you will continue on your e-bikes through the southern Tuscan hills. On an organic farm, you will taste salami, ham and other local products. Later, you will cycle through extensive oak and chestnut forests and remote hamlets until you reach beautiful Siena. You will stay overnight at the Hotel Four Points by Sheraton Siena. After the city tour, you will enjoy your final dinner in a restaurant.

The Tuscany cycling tour ends after breakfast. Air travelers and car drivers can reach Pisa by train (approx. 2 hours, not included).

With the e-bike, you can also ride this tour in a relaxed manner. The cycling tour through the Tuscan hills is one of the most demanding in our program. You will cycle mainly on small paths and country roads. It can happen that there is a bit more traffic on the side roads, as well as on the way into and out of town.

Important instructions

Since some hotels require confirmation of the group three months before arrival, shorter-term bookings are only possible on request.

We offer this cycle tour exclusively with e-bikes.
Transporting your own bikes back to the starting hotel is possible for an additional charge.
