On this cycling trip we try to satisfy some of these longings. Both the mind and the body get their money's worth on this journey of discovery: you cycle through spectacular hilly landscapes and experience pure culture in the cities from the Middle Ages and Renaissance. You will stay in very good hotels and enjoy typical Tuscan cuisine and wines. A region – perfect for a relaxed e-bike trip.
You start in Pisa, the lively trading and university city on the Arno. Your bikes will take you further to proud Lucca with its Renaissance city wall, which is unique in Europe. From the sophisticated spa culture of the 19th century in Montecatini Terme, it goes via Vinci to the “Pearl of the Renaissance”: Florence.
Further south you will discover the famous family towers of San Gimignano before you reach Siena, the “most Gothic city in Italy”, on your e-bikes.
You can cycle along flat roads to the mouth of the Arno and Lake Massaciuccoli. After a short climb, you cycle along the Serchio river embankment and along the city walls into Lucca to the Hotel San Marco. In the afternoon you have time for an individual stroll. For dinner you go to a restaurant.
In the morning you will get to know some of Lucca's sights. Your stage starts flat until you have a picnic at Villa Torrigiani (visit the park). You first follow the Strada del Vino, later you cross the charming Pescia valley with millions of cut flowers. The Grand Hotel Croce di Malta welcomes you to the traditional health resort of Montecatini Terme. The evening is at leisure.
With Monte Albano in view, you can reach Vinci, the birthplace of the great Leonardo, with your e-bikes. Through the beautiful hilly landscape with wonderful views of the plain you come to the tiny town of Artimino: The beautifully located Hotel Tenuta di Artimino (in the former stables of a Medici villa) will accommodate you in its apartments for the next two nights and you can enjoy the hotel restaurant.
Today you have the opportunity to visit Florence. You cycle along the Arno, which takes you to the center. After the city tour, you will have enough time to explore the Tuscan metropolis on your own. In the afternoon you have the choice of returning to Artimino by train or bike.
The most scenic and challenging day awaits you: A small country road runs through the Tuscan hills with fantastic views. The trademark of the beautifully situated San Gimignano are its 15 medieval family towers. You sleep in the historic Hotel La Cisterna right on the piazza and enjoy the spectacular view from the hotel restaurant.
First you continue on your e-bikes through the southern Tuscan hills. At an organic farm you can taste salami, ham and other local products. Later you cycle through extensive oak and chestnut forests and remote hamlets until you reach beautiful Siena. You will spend the night at the Hotel Siena Garden. After the city tour, enjoy your final dinner in a restaurant.
The Tuscany cycling tour ends after breakfast. Air travelers and car drivers can reach Pisa by train (approx. 2 hours, not included).
