Day 1: Arrival in Eichstätt
Arrive on your own. Pay a visit to the Willibaldsburg with its striking side towers. The castle was rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau in the 16th century.

Day 2: Eichstätt - Gungolding/Arnsberg, approx. 21-24 km / 8 hours
Start today's stage through small towns and take a look into the up to 25 m long Buchenhueller Mammoth Cave and look for animal skeletons there. It continues through the well-known Gungoldinger Wachholderheide to Arnsberg, where the castle towers above.

Day 3: Gungolding/Arnsberg - Kinding, approx. 15-18 km / 5 hours
Today you start with a climb to the rock group "Arnsberger Leite". Then hike to Kipfenberg and visit the castle of the same name. Through the forest you soon reach the town of Kinding.

Day 4: Kinding - Beilngries, approx. 18 km / 6 hours
Experience unique rock formations and wonderful views on this stage. At the Pfraundorfer See you cross the banks of the Altmühl and continue on the other side. Visit Hirschberg Castle, from where you can already see the Main-Danube Canal. Follow this for a short distance to Beilngries, which awaits you with its nine city towers.

Day 5: Beilngries - Deising / Meihern, approx. 18 km / 6 hours
Today it first goes over the plateau of the Arzberg, past Dietfurt an der Altmühl. The place (extra 2 km detour) is also known as the "Chinese town" and invites you to take a stroll through the city. Then you hike along the edge of the forest to your overnight stay.

Day 6: Deising / Meihern - Riedenburg, approx. 20 km / 7 hours
Climb Eggersberg Castle in the morning, the first highlight of this stage. Then hike along the banks of the Altmühltal to the castle town of Riedenburg.

Day 7: Riedenburg - Kelheim, approx. 23 km / 7 hours
Your last day of hiking offers a lot of variety: Prunn Castle, the "Tatzlwurm", the Danube Gorge near Kelheim and a possible detour to the Weltenburg Monastery (plus approx. 2 km with use of the ferry) form the crowning glory.
