Germany's largest island Rügen and the lagoon landscapes of Fischland-Darß
This short tour takes you in four days to two of the most impressive landscapes of the German Baltic coast: the island Rügen and the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. Starting point is the Hanseatic city Stralsund with its impressive old town. From there, you'll first cycle to Germany's largest island, where the neoclassical town of Putbus, sophisticated seaside resorts like Binz or Sellin, and the imposing chalk cliffs of Jasmund National Park await you. The next day, you'll move to the mainland and discover the vast lagoon landscapes of Fischland-Darß – with quiet villages, thatched houses, and the unique nature of the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park. The return trip to Stralsund A short city tour rounds off this exciting tour.
In the afternoon, explore the coast around the Strelasund. Depending on your time, you can either take a trip to Altefähr on the island Rügen or take a tour along the Strelasund up to the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park.
Overnight place: Hotel am Jungfernstieg, Stralsund
Take the train to Sassnitz (included). The low-floor trains of the ODEG railway allow for convenient bicycle transport. Cycle to the Königsstuhl (King's Chair) and in a loop via Jasmund to the Baltic Sea resort of Binz. Discover the chalk cliffs at Königsstuhl from the Skywalk (entrance fee not included). Your route leads through the Jasmund National Park, which protects the chalk cliffs and the ancient beech forest.
Other highlights include the treetop walkway at the Natural Heritage Centre near Prora and the Baltic Sea resort of Binz. Stroll along the promenade before taking the train (on your own) back to... Stralsund drive or continue your tour through the southwest of the island via Putbus back to Stralsund cycle.

The train (included) will take you on a short journey to the amber town of Ribnitz-Damgarten. The fascinating Amber Museum is well worth a visit before continuing your journey. There you will learn a great deal about Baltic amber and its significance. From there, the cycle path leads you through the popular seaside resorts of Wustrow and Ahrenshoop (art museum – former artists' colony). You will cycle between the Baltic Sea and the Bodden lagoons, alternating between being close to the beach and along the lagoon side, where you can see the mainland coast in the distance across the water. The Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park stretches along the coast of Darß and Zingst, across Hiddensee, and all the way to the west coast. RügenYou will cycle through parts of this national park repeatedly on your way across the Darß peninsula and Zingst. The coastline impresses with its miles of sandy beaches, offering plenty of opportunities for swimming or a break. You will cycle back to the mainland to Barth, where you will continue your tour back to... Stralsund You can shorten the journey by taking the train (on your own initiative).
