Today you cycle in the wide Lahn valley past idyllic bathing ponds to Wetzlar. Explore Wetzlar's old town and interesting cathedral on an afternoon stroll.

You leave Wetzlar over the stone bridge and soon reach the Fortuna pit (+ 8 km), the only iron ore mine in Germany, in which ore mining is demonstrated to visitors underground using original machines. The route to Weilburg, whose Renaissance castle is located on a high rocky ridge above the Lahn, remains unforgettable in terms of landscape.

Today the river winds between Taunus and Westerwald. You cycle on the asphalt towpath via Aumenau and Runkel to Limburg with its world-famous cathedral.

Enjoy a scenic highlight today: away from any traffic through an untouched valley landscape from Diez to Balduinstein. There are two climbs on this day, one of which you can easily avoid by train (11 km). Afterwards, relax with a break at Arnstein Monastery, Nassau Castle or in the old inn on the Lahn before heading to Bad Ems cycle in.

After 12 km, the Rhine Valley opens up before your eyes. Here you can crown your cycling trip with a detour (+ approx. 29 km) via Boppard and St. Goar to the Loreley. Climb the famous rock that has been the destiny of so many sailors, immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the lively wine town of Boppard or escape to lofty heights on the chairlift and marvel at the unique view of the Rhine loop. However you spend the day, you can enjoy the return trip to Koblenz by boat.
