Lahn cycle path Marburg - Koblenz

Day 1: Arrival in Marburg

You should plan enough time to visit the historic old town and the Elisabeth Church. Enjoy student flair and visit one of the many rustic pubs in the evening.

Day 2: Marburg - Wetzlar, about 54 km

Look forward to the beautiful Lahn cycle path, which leads through the wide Lahn valley past idyllic bathing ponds to Wetzlar. Explore Wetzlar's old town and interesting cathedral on an afternoon stroll. Stroll through the medieval market square, discover steep steps, narrow streets and romantic corners. You can experience the modern side of Wetzlar on the optics course. Here you can discover phenomena of optics, such as a large diamond made of optical glass that reflects the light sparklingly or a kaleidoscope with endless reflections.

Day 3: Wetzlar - Weilburg, about 32-40 km

You leave Wetzlar over the stone bridge and soon reach the Fortuna pit (+ 8 km), the only iron ore mine in Germany where ore mining is demonstrated with original machines underground. The route to Weilburg, whose Renaissance castle is situated on a high rocky ridge above the Lahn, remains unforgettable in terms of landscape. In the afternoon you can look forward to a tour of the castle complex with its magnificent and representative interiors. Treat yourself to a coffee in the baroque castle garden with its orangery, visit the castle church and marvel at the castle courtyard, which forms the backdrop for the famous Weilburg Castle Concerts every year.

Day 4: Weilburg - Limburg, about 40 km

Today, the course of the river meanders between the Taunus and the Westerwald. You cycle idyllically on the paved towpath via Aumenau and Runkel to Limburg. Limburg Cathedral, also known as St. George's Cathedral, towers above the old town next to Limburg Castle. This high location on the rocks above the Lahn ensures that the cathedral is visible from afar. It is considered one of the most beautiful creations of late Romanesque architecture. Not only a visit to the world-famous Limburg Cathedral is an absolute must, but also a stroll through the city center, which is one of the most beautiful old towns in Germany!

Day 5: Limburg – Bad Ems, about 36-47 km

Enjoy a scenic highlight today: Away from any traffic, you cycle along the Lahn cycle path through an untouched valley landscape from Diez to Balduinstein. This day has two ascents in store, whereby you can easily avoid an ascent by train (11 km). Then relax with a rest at the Arnstein Monastery or at the Nassau Castle before you go to Bad Ems arrive. You will be amazed, because the first thing you see is Bad's architectural gem Ems: the Kurhaus, the Kurcafe, the Marble Hall, the Kurtheater and the Casino are presented in a long row. This "chocolate side" to the Lahn fi nds a worthy and beautiful continuation in the gardens of the Kurpark. Enjoy your stay and let your mind wander.

Day 6: Bath Ems - Koblenz, about 17-46 km

After 12 km, the Rhine Valley opens up before your eyes. Here you can crown your cycle tour with a detour (+ 29 km) via Boppard and St. Goar to the Loreley. Climb the famous rock, which was the destiny of so many skippers, immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the lively wine village of Boppard or escape to dizzy heights with the chairlift and marvel at the unique view of the Rhine loop. However you plan your day, you can enjoy the return trip to Koblenz by boat.

Day 7: Departure from Koblenz

Today your beautiful cycling holiday ends after breakfast in Koblenz at the hotel. If you would like to return to Marburg, we recommend our practical return transfer service (departure 09.00 a.m., duration approx. 2,5 hours), which will take you directly back to the start hotel
