The Main is magnificent and moving, the surrounding landscape is picturesque and magical. So it's no wonder if you get excited. However, this Main cycling trip is not as harmless as it seems. The challenge lies in the lengths of the stages, which are sometimes quite exhausting and should not be underestimated. The proud river flows through the valley and challenges ambitious cyclists. Your calves will throb, and not just once a day, you can count on that. There are also many attractions of a cultural, historical and culinary nature.

Day 1: Arrival in Bamberg
After your arrival, Bamberg's old town (UNESCO World Heritage) invites you to a worthwhile visit.
Overnight stay in Bamberg
Day 2: Bamberg - Schweinfurt, approx. 61 km
The Main Cycle Path takes you, a few kilometers beyond Bamberg, from the realms of "Beer Franconia" to "Wine Franconia". The cozy half-timbered and wine town of Zeil am Main is the first proof of this. Continue via Haßfurt to the "ball bearing city" of Schweinfurt.
Overnight stay in Schweinfurt
Day 3: Schweinfurt - Kitzingen, approx. 60 km
The destination of today's stage is Kitzingen with its historic market square and Renaissance town hall.
Overnight stay in Kitzingen
Day 4: Kitzingen - Karlstadt, approx. 66 km
You cycle to Ochsenfurt via Marktbreit with its beautiful ensemble of Maintor and Malerwinkelhaus. Look forward to Sommerhausen, a Franconian wine village straight out of a picture book. Let yourself be inspired by the romantic townscape of Eibelstadt, whose city wall encloses many sights. You cycle through Randersacker, where wine has been grown since 779 AD. The cycle path leads along famous vineyards such as Teufelskeller, Marsberg and Sonnenstuhl to Würzburg. Marvel at the market square, the town hall, the old Main Bridge, the Marienkapelle with sandstone figures and the prince-bishop's residence before you cycle on to Karlstadt.
Overnight stay in Karlstadt
Day 5: Karlstadt - Wertheim, approx. 73 km
The landscape changes today, and the characteristic viticulture gives way to shady forests directly on the cycle path. On flat paths you roll comfortably over the three-river city of Gemünden to Lohr. The wooded hills, through which the Main meanders, move very close together. Passing the town of Rothenfels, whose castle guards the narrow valley, you cycle to Marktheidenfeld and Wertheim. Let yourself be enchanted by the graceful half-timbered houses of the winding old town!
Overnight stay in Wertheim
Day 6: Wertheim - Aschaffenburg, approx. 77 km
On flat paths you roll quickly between the hills of the Spessart and the Odenwald to Miltenberg (36 km), which proudly presents itself with its half-timbered houses. Vineyards slowly spread out in front of you again. Enjoy the drive to the wine town of Klingenberg (51 km). The Main cycle path remains pleasantly flat and well paved, so that the last few kilometers to Aschaffenburg (77 km) fly by before you are greeted by the sandstone castle of Johannisburg. You can also shorten your cycling stage to Aschaffenburg from Miltenberg or Klingenberg by DB (on your own).
