Tour map of the Lahn Cycle Path

Day 1: Arrival in Bad Laasphe

Come to Bad Laasphe early today and use the time for a first excursion to the source of the Lahn. Or take a tour of the town and visit unique museums, such as the mushroom or radio museum.

Day 2: Bad Laasphe - Marburg, about 51 km

The first day of cycling flies by. Idyllic bike paths take you to the old university town of Marburg. A visit to the famous Elisabeth Church and the Marburg Landgrave Castle is worthwhile. Let yourself be captivated by the fairytale old town and enjoy beautiful evening hours in international restaurants or in quaint student pubs.

Overnight stay in Marburg

Day 3: Marburg - Wetzlar, about 54 km

Today you cycle in the wide Lahn valley past idyllic bathing ponds to Wetzlar. Explore Wetzlar's old town and interesting cathedral on an afternoon stroll.

Overnight stay in Wetzlar

Day 4: Wetzlar - Weilburg, about 40 km

You leave Wetzlar over the stone bridge and soon reach the Fortuna pit (+ 8 km), the only iron ore mine in Germany, in which ore mining is demonstrated to visitors underground using original machines. The route to Weilburg, whose Renaissance castle is located on a high rocky ridge above the Lahn, remains unforgettable in terms of landscape.

Overnight stay in Weilburg

Day 5: Weilburg - Limburg, about 40 km

Today, the course of the river meanders between the Taunus and the Westerwald. You cycle on the paved towpath via Aumenau and Runkel to Limburg. Limburg Cathedral, also known as St. George's Cathedral, towers above the old town next to Limburg Castle. This high position on the rocks above the Lahn ensures that the cathedral is visible from afar. It is considered one of the most beautiful creations of late Romanesque architecture. Not only a visit to the world-famous Limburg Cathedral is an absolute must, but also a stroll through the city center, which is one of the most beautiful old towns in Germany.

Overnight stay in Limburg

Day 6: Limburg - Bad Ems, about 47 km

Enjoy a scenic highlight today: Away from any traffic through an untouched valley landscape from Diez to Balduinstein. This day has two ascents in store, whereby you can easily avoid an ascent by train (11 km). Then relax with a rest at the Arnstein monastery, at the Nassau castle or in the historic inn on the Lahn before you cycle into Bad Ems.

Overnight stay in Bad Ems

Day 7: Bad Ems - St. Goar - Braubach/Koblenz, about 46 km

After 12 km, the Rhine Valley opens up before your eyes. Here you can crown the bike trip with a detour (+ 29 km) via Boppard and St. Goar to the Loreley. Enjoy the return trip to the wine towns of Braubach or Koblenz by boat.
