The Main is magnificent and moving, the surrounding landscape is picturesque and magical. So it's no wonder if you get excited. However, this is Main-Cycling trip is not as harmless as it seems. The challenge lies in the sometimes quite strenuous stage lengths, which should not be underestimated. The proud river flows violently through the valley and challenges ambitious cyclists. Your calves will pulsate, and not just once a day, you can count on that. As well as many attractions of a cultural, historical and culinary nature.
After your arrival, Bamberg's old town (UNESCO World Heritage Site) invites you to take a tour. First visit the Imperial Cathedral of St. Peter and St. George and the New Residence before stopping off at one of the many Bamberg breweries.

In the morning you first follow the Regnitz for a short distance to Main, which takes you to the pilgrimage church of Maria Limbach, which is well worth seeing. Now the first vineyards are beginning to mark the border between beer and wine Franconia. Enjoy a sunny day cycling in Haßfurt and marvel at the historic center. For a little refreshment, it's worth taking a detour to the pretty town of Theres in the afternoon. In Schweinfurt, discover the remains of the old imperial city, walk in the footsteps of the industrial pioneers and explorers and let yourself be pampered by modern Schweinfurt.

In the morning you cycle via Fahr, the town of the Bockstaschen, to Volkach - famous for its excellent wines! Behind Volkach follow it Maincanal before you return to Schwarzach Main meet. Since the well-paved cycle path is completely flat, Kitzingen can be reached quickly, so you can take a stroll through town in the afternoon.
Overnight place: Kitzingen
Today you cycle to Würzburg via Ochsenfurt, where you should definitely see the town hall. It's worth taking a long break here. Marvel at the market square, the town hall, the old one MainBridge with a view of the Käppele fortress and pilgrimage church (Balthasar Neumann) as well as over the rococo facade of the Falkenhaus and over the Lady Chapel with its sandstone figures Adam and Eve by Tilmto Riemenschneider. Then you cycle via Veitshöchheim with the prince-bishop's summer residence and French rococo garden to Karlstadt with the beautiful city center.
Overnight place: Karlstadt
Today the landscape changes in a variety of ways and the characteristic viticulture gives way to shade-providing forests directly on the cycle path. You roll comfortably on flat paths to the three-river city of Gemünden. The wooded hills through which the... Main meanders through. You cycle past the town of Rothenfels, whose castle guards the narrow valley, to Marktheidenfeld and Wertheim. Let yourself be enchanted by the graceful half-timbered houses of the winding old town.
Overnight place: Wertheim
If you pedal hard first thing in the morning, you'll be in Miltenberg by lunchtime, which proudly presents itself with its half-timbered houses! In the afternoon you roll quickly on flat paths between the peaks of the Spessart and the Odenwald to the Johannisburg sandstone castle in Aschaffenburg.
