Main cycle path Bamberg-Aschaffenburg

Day 1: Arrival in Bamberg

After your arrival, Bamberg's old town (UNESCO World Heritage) invites you to a worthwhile visit.

Day 2: Bamberg - Schweinfurt, approx. 61 km

In the morning you follow the Regnitz for a short distance to the Main, which leads you to the Maria Limbach pilgrimage church, which is well worth seeing. Now the first vineyards begin, marking the border between beer and wine Franconia. Marvel at the historical center in Hassfurt. For a little refreshment, a detour to the pretty town of Theres is worthwhile.

Day 3: Schweinfurt – Volkach, approx. 30 km

Today you cycle via Fahr, the town of the Bockstüte, to Volkach. The city is famous for its excellent wines and attracts with culinary variety in the evening.

Day 4: Volkach - Würzburg, approx. 65 km

After Volkach you follow the Main Canal before you meet the Main again in Schwarzach. Since the well-paved cycle path is completely flat, Würzburg can be reached quickly. So you can do an individual city tour in the afternoon.

Day 5: Würzburg – Lohr, approx. 60 km

Via Veitshöchheim, with its prince-bishop's summer residence and French rococo garden, you cycle to Karlstadt with its town center which is well worth seeing. The landscape now changes in a varied way and the characteristic viticulture gives way to shady forests directly on the cycle path. On flat paths you roll comfortably over the three-river city of Gemünden to Lohr.

Day 6: Lohr - Wertheim, approx. 46 km

The wooded hills through which the Main meanders are very close together. Passing the town of Rothenfels, whose castle guards the narrow valley, you cycle to Marktheidenfeld and Wertheim. Let yourself be enchanted by the graceful half-timbered houses of the winding old town!

Day 7: Wertheim – Aschaffenburg, approx. 36 / 51 / 77 km

You roll quickly on flat paths between the hills of the Spessart and the Odenwald to Miltenberg (36 km), which proudly presents itself with its half-timbered houses. Here you can stay overnight or shorten your cycling stage to Aschaffenburg by train (direct connection, duration approx. 45 minutes, train tickets not included in the tour price). Vineyards slowly spread out in front of you again. Enjoy the journey to the wine town of Klingenberg (51 km), where you can also take the train to Aschaffenburg. The Main cycle path remains pleasantly flat and well paved, so that the last few kilometers to Aschaffenburg (77 km) fly by before you are greeted by the sandstone castle of Johannisburg.
