You will explore the Baltic coast with the seaside resort of Palanga and the Curonian Spit National Park, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, individually by bike. Enjoy real Lithuanian country life as you cycle with the storks in the Nemunas Delta. This tour runs partly on the Lithuanian Coastal Cycle Route, which is the first and only officially signposted high quality cycle route in Lithuania. The tour starts and ends in the historic coastal town of Klaipeda (known for many years as Nemunas), which has a rich, varied history since the 13th century. Nowadays it is a lively, modern city with many excellent leisure opportunities from historical tours to water sports. There is a wide choice of cafes and restaurants and many annual festivals, e.g. Jazz, Folklore & Sea. You can spend extra nights here either at the beginning or at the end of the tour. During the tour you will spend 2 nights in the largest settlement on the Curonian Spit - Nida. It is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday by the sea or explore the unique surroundings, geology, birdlife etc. on foot, by bike or canoe.

Attention: Complete route for arrival on Thursday starting from day 3 (see "Itinerary"). Day 2 will then take place on the 7th day if you arrive on Thursday.

A very interesting cycling holiday in an enchanting area

The tour was very well prepared. The material for it was extensive and helpful. The tour descriptions were very precise. Unfortunately, these detailed descriptions were sometimes too confusing or misleading. In addition, the text was written in too small a font, so that every time we were not referring to cycle route 10, we had to get off and read. Since the description was written by non-native speakers, which is commendable, a few words were wrongly chosen and initially led us astray. All in all, the tour was very well chosen and it was fun to cycle through this wonderful landscape, forests, lagoon on one side, the sea on the other. In the villages, stork nests often lined our way. The hotels were simple and adequate, offering everything you need. The room in the "Nerija" was very nice and spacious and had enough storage space. The view in the "Nerija" and "Gilija" was less nice - roofs, despite booking early. In the "Gilija" we were very bothered by the cooking fumes in the morning before we got up and in the evening. As it was very warm in the room, we had to open the window. The "Old Mill" had a bathroom that was far too small, which meant there was no storage space for washing utensils. You could only put some of your toothbrushing equipment on the glass shelf above the mini sink. There was only one toothbrush cup because there wasn't enough space for a second one. It was particularly extreme in the room (204) where we stayed last night (18-19.08 August): The sink was so small and inconveniently placed that you could only brush your teeth while standing at an angle and you had to be careful not to brush outside the sink. It was almost impossible to shave wet. The half board was OK. The best food was in the "Gilija" and "Nerija". Despite the criticism, it was a very nice cycling holiday. We would recommend everyone to do the same. And criticism seems important to us if we want to improve something.
