Hiking to Warnemünde Stralsund

The heart of Warnemünde beats on the Alter Strom. This promenade is characterized by small, friendly-looking captain's houses with their front glass verandas. After the sea canal, walk along the beach to Markgrafenheide. Continue on the hiking trail behind the dunes, past the Hüttelmoor, Graal-Müritz to Dierhagen. Overnight stay in Dierhagen.

Along the dyke, the stretch of land before Wustrow becomes so narrow that both the sea and the Bodden can be seen on the hiking trail. After the "Hohes Ufer" section, you reach the artist's residence Ahrenshoop with its art cottages, colorful parlors and galleries and continue walking along the beach path to the Darß forest with its windbreaks. The route continues to Prerow. If the route is too long for you, you can use the regular regional buses. The hike can also be split into two by spending the night in Prerow. After the “Hohes Ufer” section you reach the artists’ residence Ahrenshoop with art houses, Bunter Stube and galleries and continue on the beach path to the Darßer Forest with its wind escapees. We continue through to Prerow. If the route is too long for you, you can use the regular regional buses. Furthermore, the hike can easily be divided into two overnight stays in Prerow. We recommend that you hike to Zingst on a path on the lake side of the dike. In the direction of Meiningen Bridge (connecting the Fischland/Darß/Zingst peninsula with the mainland) you will come to a viewing platform with a good view of the green landscape on the Bodden. In spring and autumn tens of thousands of migratory birds, especially cranes, rest there.

Overnight place: Barth

After the many flat kilometers in your legs, the slight uphill and downhill sections on this route are a welcome change. After Dabitz, the route alternates between footpaths next to the dyke and the asphalted cycle path. The direct route to Wendisch-Langendorf no longer exists and so your hike continues inland via Bisdorf and Hohendorf to Klausdorf. If the route is too long for you, you can take a taxi out of the Barth city area on the morning before you start your hike. Accommodation near Klausdorf/Barhöft.

Overnight place: Klausdorf/Barhöft

In the area around Klausdorf, at the appropriate time of year, you can observe thousands of cranes gathering there in the evening to set off together to the lagoon, where they spend the night standing in the shallow lagoon water. On partly asphalted country paths (the hiking trail has been converted into a cycle path), the hike takes you to the weir of the Prohner reservoir and to Parow with beautiful old half-timbered houses under tall trees and a small castle.
