Follow the young river and enjoy French flair and culinary delicacies in the border triangle of France, Luxembourg and Germany. From Perl you can look forward to an excellent cycle path that takes you through many small wine villages to the Roman city of Trier. Travel to Metz in good time today, because the capital of the Lorraine region is worth seeing and has interesting things to offer! From the past Roman era to the present day, the city has unique buildings and is famous as a bishop's seat, university town and center of contemporary art. In addition to numerous sights in the old town, there are several extensive parks that invite you to relax and linger, and the city's old, restored fortifications are also worth a tour. In the center you will find shops and a variety of good and individual restaurants with different culinary offerings that are just waiting to be discovered.

Overnight place: Metz

You will spend almost the entire cycling day in France today. Indulge in the famous French cuisine along the way and enjoy a good 'cafe au lait'. If you want to shorten the day's journey, you can easily take the train from Metz and travel to Thionville without changing (bikes can be taken for free). You can look forward to a cycle path with very reliable and good signage. So you can cycle in a good mood, very close to the water, all the way to the German-French border. Directly across the border on German soil you have reached Perl and can now cross to Schengen (other Mosellepage / Luxembourg), known for its European piousness, which supports the free Waren- and regulates passenger traffic, or take a nice bike trip to the Roman Villa Borg (5 km east of Perl). Marvel at the excavations, the reconstruction of the manor house and villa baths, the new complex of old Roman gardens and enjoy refreshment in the Roman tavern.

Today you are accompanied for the first time by the wide vineyards to the right and left of the Moselle. Take a trip to Remich, whose southern flair can be found in the many cafes and bistros along the 3 km long route Mosellepromenade becomes noticeable. Give the place, which the Romans called Remacum, a little of your time and marvel at the old streets and the deanery church from 1817. Strengthen yourself on the Moselleterracing before you find your way on the right Mosellecontinue along the banks and get to Konz and there the confluence of the Saar and the Moselle cross over. A villa rustica is the name given to a country house or estate in the Roman Empire. Today the reconstructed buildings and foundation walls can be visited again. You then roll comfortably to Trittenheim. Shortly before your destination for the day is Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine town in Germany! What could be better than trying a glass of beer here?

The two famous MoselleThe towns of Bernkastel-Kues and Traben-Trarbach as well as the well-known wine-growing region "Kröver Nacktarsch" crown today's day. Marvel at the colourful, diverse half-timbered houses on the picture-perfect market square in Bernkastel-Kues, and enjoy a wonderful boat trip in Traben-Trarbach.

Today you will discover Enkirch, a gem Mosellecountry half-timbered architecture, and Zell, the wine town with the 'Zeller Schwarzen Katz'. Take a worthwhile break in small Beilstein, which is proudly nicknamed “Rothenburg an der Moselle“, and look forward to Cochem with its picturesque center and the old imperial castle from the 11th century.
