Munich Lake Circuit (6 days)

Following the eastern shore of Lake Starnberg, you'll reach Berg. A little further south, near the votive chapel by Berg Castle, you'll find the cross marking the spot where King Ludwig II of Bavaria died. Just before Seeshaupt, a beer garden and a lovely beach beckon. Murnau am Staffelsee and Seehausen lie in the picturesque foothills of the Alps and are the heart of the Blue Land region.

Turquoise rivers, Caribbean-like lakes, and mystical moorlands await you in the beautiful southern part of Bavaria, in the Isarwinkel region. Famous artists like Franz Marc and Gabriele Münter once lived here and immortalized the picturesque area in their renowned paintings. Enjoy a magnificent view of the scenic Kochelsee before catching sight of the onion domes of the Benediktbeuren Basilica in the distance. The charming Isar town of Bad Tölz enchants visitors with its colorful rows of houses.

The Isar Cycle Path leads to Munich. The popular Pupplinger Au floodplain stretches along the banks of the Isar, offering a natural setting and inviting beer gardens. Perched on the high bank is the imposing Grünwald Castle, one of Bavaria's most important castles. Enjoy a fantastic view over the Isar Valley from the castle tower. The route continues through the dense riparian forests of the Isar, past Hellabrunn Zoo, to Munich. A cozy atmosphere awaits you at the Platzl in the Old Town, home to the world-famous Hofbräuhaus.

Visit Nymphenburg Palace, the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), Marienplatz, or the world's largest technology museum before your bike tour takes you to Lake Ammersee. Take a break in Herrsching with its breathtaking views of the lake. Afterwards, cycle to the impressive Andechs Monastery. This requires a good level of fitness or an e-bike. A more leisurely option leads through the Würm Valley to Starnberg (approx. 25 km).
