Ships watch - and cycle with the ships. You cycle from Kiel via Rendsburg to the canals of Friedrichstadt. Over the Eider to the North Sea coast to Büsum and Brunsbüttel. Here it always goes along the Kiel Canal back to Kiel.

Overnight place: Kiel
On the Fördeweg, past the piers of the big cruise and Baltic Sea ferries and the Tirpitzhafen to the locks in Holtenau. Continue on what is probably the most interesting section of the route, the Kanalweg, to Rendsburg. You will always come across historical buildings of the old Eider Canal.
Overnight place: Rendsburg
You are now leaving the Kiel Canal and cycling via Christiansholm and Bergenhusen (Storchendorf) to Friedrichstadt. The stage takes you through a unique natural landscape around the Hohnersee and the Sorge river valley. Many animal species, such as white storks and otters, are at home here.
Overnight place: Husum
Today's stage takes you along the Eider to Tönning with its historic cutter port. Continue through the Kattinger Watt to the Eider barrage with observation tower.
On the dyke and the North Sea Cycle Path you now reach the spa town of Büsum.

Today you cycle through the wide landscape of Dithmarschen with its dykes and the Wadden Sea to Brunsbüttel. Overnight stays in Brunsbüttel are only possible in category I.

Today's stage begins at the locks, the mouth of the Kiel Canal.
Thousands of ships navigate the canal every year, making it the most used artificial waterway in the world. The Kiel Canal Cycle Path now always follows the canal via Hochdonn to Rendsburg.
Overnight place: Rendsburg
The last stage takes you to the south side of the canal. Now it goes on the charming canal path to the state capital Kiel. Imposing high bridges are passed on this route. Arrived at the locks in Holtenau, it goes on the Fördeweg.
