Route description was partially incorrect, which led to detours. The overnight stay in the Hotel Treenehof in Friedrichstadt is dangerous for allergy sufferers (horse hair, cat hair, hay fever, etc.); a reference to this would be helpful. Problems with the bike or with the accommodation in Friedrichstadt were solved on site by Mr. Rusch and the hotel management.

All-round successful bike tour

An all-round successful bike tour. We were very satisfied.

Kiel Canal with extra overnight stay

We booked this tour with an extra overnight stay in the Westerdeichstrich mill. A canal tour was not included. The first hotels (Kiel, Rendsburg, Friedrichstadt) were OK - but rather impersonal. There were hardly any inns along the way - so only moderate places to stop for a bite to eat. The signage on site was consistently "exciting". In Rendsburg (Sun.) and Friedrichstadt (Mon.) the local restaurants were very limited. This improved towards the North Sea coast. The mill farm in Westerdeichstrich showed its best side: warm, friendly hosts and a great atmosphere! We stayed there for two nights - recommended. The "Schleusenhotel" in Brunsbüttel is also worth mentioning. We arrived completely soaked after a heavy thunderstorm! At the hotel we received a very personal and warm welcome and our wet clothes were immediately put in the drying room - great service! The room was also a good size, so everything was perfectly arranged for drying off in the bathroom. All in all, a well-organized cycling trip without any major problems. A larger overview of the cycle routes would have been desirable in terms of maps to help you find alternatives. The ADFC regional map of the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast was useful here, and perhaps the Schleswig-Flensburg map as well. The included Kiel Canal cycle route compass tour map is too detailed and quite complicated, as it focuses on the Kiel Canal with all its detours. Thank you very much for this wonderful cycle tour!

Varied tour "Around the Kiel Canal"

We rode with a Pedelec and a good saddle, so the distances were no problem. There was sun, wind, rain and showers (typical northern German). The high price range for the accommodation paid off in terms of comfort! The staff in every accommodation was friendly and accommodating. One hotel was very stylish; unfortunately the designer had limited the storage space, and the bikes had to be parked in the yard. Otherwise there was always a dry room. The tour goes through the hinterland of Schleswig-Holstein. Restaurant visits in the evening must be planned. The people in Schleswig-Holstein are friendly and helpful. A pit stop at the workshop along the way was organized in no time. The tour does not always run along signposted paths, so it is worth using the GPX data provided in a navigation system. Thanks to the information in the travel documents on the canal administration website, I was able to plan a current detour into the stage.

At 2 of the wheels we hadn't warmed up with the bells. Operation takes a lot of getting used to.

The trip with GPS can probably still be expanded in some places, but helpful in connection with the maps provided, as there were often no signs along the route.

Thank you for a well organized bike tour

The tour through Schleswig-Holstein was interesting and varied but never boring. Thanks to the GPS data, the planned course of the tour was relatively easy to find, despite the often confusing signage. The organization of the luggage transport worked very well. With one exception, the selection of hotels along the route was very good. The Hotel Herzog Friedrich in Friedrichstadt was out of the ordinary. A very small, worn-out room (approx. 9 square meters) that was out of style and created "pure claustrophobia" for me and my wife. The double bed, which was too small, also prevented a restful night's sleep. But the most negative thing for us was the mood that the hotel owner had for the guests. I had the impression of being a troublemaker the whole time.

Nice tour with weather-related restrictions

With one exception, we really liked the hotels booked in category 1. They were centrally located with a good breakfast and friendly service. Our luggage was always at the new location on time. Instead of Friedrichstadt, we spent an overnight stay in Husum. Only the Mühlenhof in Westerdeichstrich is out of the way and in our opinion the quality and price-performance ratio in the restaurant was not right. If there was a hurricane one day, we would have liked the travel agency to help us organize our journey to the next hotel. The documents sent to us with GPS files for the route were sometimes no longer up to date. The information on the canal authority's website also seems out of date, which led to some unplanned detours. Overall, it was still a very nice cycling trip with a great view of the Kiellinie in Kiel, the canal again and again, beautiful small towns and the Wadden Sea. We rode on our own bikes.

Beautiful tour

- The tours were very well planned and led past many beautiful hidden sights that would not have been found on the usual tourist routes. Wonderful insider tips. - We had uploaded the routes to Komoot via gpx. If we hadn't done this, it would have been very difficult to find the routes. - There were some changes to the traffic situation along the route (e.g. new road, roundabout, etc.). Perhaps the routes should be corrected and revised again. - But all of this is "complaining at a very high level". We were really very satisfied.
