The Baltic Sea Cycle Route in Schleswig-Holstein takes you to Lübeck in seven stages.
Your bike tour begins in Flensburg and takes you along the Flensburg Fjord to Kappeln. The journey continues in the direction of Eckernförde, Kiel via Lütjenburg, Heiligenhafen along the Bay of Lübeck to the Hanseatic city. Explore the cities on this bike tour and look forward to the miles of sandy beaches and walks on the beach promenades. Restaurants, cafés and boutiques invite you to linger.
Once you have arrived in Lübeck, it is worth visiting the city's churches and monasteries.

On their own. Germany's northernmost city was ruled by the Danish crown for over 400 years. 700 years of city history shaped the fjord city. Take a stroll through the charming streets of the old town.
Overnight location: Flensburg
The trip goes along the Flensburg Fjord to one of the most beautiful moated castles in Germany, to Glücksburg. You continue cycling around the Geltinger Bay, through the tranquil fishing to Kappeln.
Overnight stay in Kappeln
You should explore Kappeln's pretty little town before continuing your journey. You cross the Schlei and drive along it to the open sea. The Baltic Sea resort of Damp and the Ludwigsburg manor house are on your way. Your destination today is the town of Eckernförde with its maritime flair.
Accommodation location: Eckernförde or surrounding area
In Eckernförde you can still find the typical North German old town character. The church in Borby has a beautiful altar structure from 1686 and a rare baptismal font from the 13th century. Through the Danish Wohld you will soon reach the state capital Kiel. Take the afternoon to stroll along the Kiellinie, a mile-long promenade. A visit to the lock system of the Kiel Canal is recommended.

You leave Kiel for the coastal town of Laboe by boat (on your own account) or by bike. Via Laboe's lively beach and small harbour, you continue to Schönberg. Always wanted to go to Brazil and California? Your dream will come true today! You cycle comfortably to Hohwacht.
Overnight stay: Lütjenburg or Hohwacht
Today you leave the Hohwachter Bay, which creates a particularly beautiful landscape with its kilometer-long sandy beach and the cliffs, some of which are 20m high. You cycle to Oldenburg via Weißenhäuser Strand. We continue to Heiligenhafen, not far from the island of Fehmarn or via the Fehmarnbelt to the island of Fehmarn.

A short trip to Lübeck Bay, past Dahme and Kellenhusen, to Grömitz. Grömitz is one of the oldest and largest seaside resorts. Further south to the Holstein Baltic Sea town of Neustadt.
Overnight stay: Neustadt (Holst.) or Timmendorfer Strand
Mostly along the beaches and beach promenades from Haffkrug, Scharbeutz and Timmendorfer Strand to Travemünde. Bathing facilities are plentiful. Cafes, restaurants, boutiques and shops line the beaches in a colorful succession. Further inland to Lübeck.
Accommodation location: Lübeck
After breakfast, you will travel home on your own. Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town to the world-famous Buddenbrookhaus and taste the Lübeck marzipan (on your own).
