Historic old towns, charming castles, and magnificent churches entice visitors from place to place in Franconia. Towns surrounded by forests, some with towers and stone walls, appear enchanting. And every single place invites you on a culinary journey of discovery. It's not for nothing that Franconia is called a "land of connoisseurs." The art of brewing beer is as traditional here as that of winemaking. Their wines and beers pair perfectly with the region's hearty fare. Without question, the way to a person's heart for Franconia is through their stomach.

fuel surcharge

A fuel surcharge of up to 8% of the package price may be levied on this bike and boat tour. The final amount will be determined and communicated 20–30 days before departure. Payment: This arrangement is made directly upon boarding the ship. It is governed by §651f of the German Civil Code (BGB) and serves to adjust for current fuel costs of our service partners.

Individual arrival in Bamberg and embarkation from 16 p.m. Bamberg is a multifaceted city and at the same time a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The "island town" presents itself as little Venice, the "mountain town" as Franconian Rome and the "gardener town" as a unique specimen.

In the morning you reach Hassfurt with its beautiful historic old town. The city lies between two nature parks and is the location of charming sacred buildings such as the late Gothic knights' chapel and the parish church with figures by Tilmto Riemenschneider. Here you get on your bike and cycle to the former imperial city of Schweinfurt.

Kitzingen or Marktbreit (depending on berth confirmation) is your destination today. The historic wine-trading town of Kitzingen is home to the German Carnival Museum, which offers insight into a significant part of Franconian traditions. The Falterturm (Folder Tower) with its leaning spire is considered the town's landmark. In Kitzingen, old beer-brewing traditions meet winemaking traditions, as evidenced by historic cellars. Several Kitzingen taverns offer guests hearty Franconian fare such as Sauerbraten with dumplings or "Karpfen Blau" (Blue Carp). Alternatively, you have the option of staying on board until Volkach, thus shortening the tour by approximately 25 kilometers.

Würzburg awaits you today with many sights. One of them is the Würzburg Residence, which is considered one of the most important palaces in Germany and has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1981. The St. Kilian Cathedral and the Marienberg Fortress are also well-known. Würzburg is a center of Franconian wine and, as a young student city, is still full of life even in the evenings.

You reach Karlstadt in the morning. Towers, gates and walls surround the old town with its half-timbered houses and small alleys. The destination of today's travel day is the city of Lohr Main. Typical Franconian half-timbered architecture also characterizes the old town of this gateway to the Spessart. Buildings such as the Electorate of Mainz Castle underline the fairytale character of the city.

You take the ship to the old residential town of Wertheim with the castle of the same name as its landmark. The town with its historic market square and perhaps the narrowest house in Franconia is the start of today's cycling stage to Freudenberg. High above that Main and the city of Freudenberg, the Freudenburg sits enthroned at the foothills of the Franconian Odenwald. The Freudenburg is very well known among castle connoisseurs because of its striking keep.

The highlight of today's bike tour is Miltenberg with its Mildenburg Castle, built in 1200. The "Planetary Cycle Route" accompanies you from Erlenbach to Kleinwallstadt. Here, you'll find information about the celestial bodies. The floodplain forest between Niedernheim and Nilkheim is pleasant to cycle through in summer. Everywhere along the MainThere are benches and rest areas that invite you to relax or even take a swim. Your destination is the beautiful, tranquil university town of Aschaffenburg with its magnificent Renaissance castle, Johannisburg, made of red sandstone. Numerous wine bars, cafés, and rustic inns await your visit. In the evening, a farewell dinner awaits you, while your ship takes you to Frankfurt/Main.Main brings.

Taking your own bikes with you: Due to limited space on the sun deck, bringing your own bike is only possible upon request and only to a limited extent. We accept no liability for loss, theft, or damage – this also applies to transport damage from the ship to shore and back.

Excursion program: aCan only be booked directly on board. A brief description will be provided with your travel documents. Depending on the group size, the excursions may be offered bilingually (German-English).

Timetable and program changes are generally reserved. If, for example, a route cannot be navigated due to low or high water or bad weather, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety (this is not a free reason for cancellation). The same applies to lock and/or bridge repairs ordered by the authorities and not announced in advance.

Other notes: Please remember that your riverboat is, on the one hand, your "vacation hotel," but on the other hand, it is also a working tool that moves using motor power and must be operated constantly, even at night (sometimes when passing through locks and bridges). We recommend that guests who are particularly sensitive to noise bring earplugs. Lock passages are subject to disruption and unfortunately cannot be changed.
