Rad und Schiff Tourenkarte zum Eisernen Tor

A stroll through the Bavarian city of three rivers is a truly special experience. Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town, visit the cathedral with the world's largest church organ, or enjoy hearty home-cooked meals in one of the brewery's inns. Immediately after boarding between 16:00 and 17:00 p.m., it's time to cast off. Glide relaxedly toward the setting sun and enjoy the breathtaking view of the idyllic river landscape of the upper Danube Valley from your box seat on deck.

Overnight place: Passau

The day is a true cycling delight! You'll cycle from Engelhartszell (Austria's only Trappist monastery) through the wildly romantic Danube Loop, one of the most beautiful stretches of the river, dotted with charming farming villages. Cozy cider taverns beckon along the way, offering all sorts of delicacies. In the idyllic boating town of Aschach, you'll reboard and "sail" into the night.

Overnight place: Ashach

In the morning, enjoy a short bike ride along the former Iron Curtain from the Devin Fortress to the imposing Hof Palace, with one of the most magnificent baroque gardens in Europe. A well-maintained bike path then takes you to the vibrant metropolis of Bratislava, or you can relax on the sundeck and enjoy the boat ride to the Slovak capital. Our scenic train city tour (optional) begins with a magnificent view of the coronation city from the castle towering above the city and ends with a walking tour of the beautifully restored Old Town.

Overnight place: Bratislava

The entrance to Budapest is breathtakingly beautiful, with views of the city's most famous buildings. During a city tour (optional), you can discover the Danube metropolis or take a detour to the charming artists' town of Szentendre (the route can be shortened by train). In the evening, you can explore the Hungarian metropolis on your own or enjoy the view of the festively illuminated Parliament from the sun deck.

Overnight place: Budapest

From the baroque capital of fish soup, a tranquil town surrounded by the Gemenc flood forests, you cycle along the Danube embankment through sleepy river landscapes and past sunflower fields. At the end of today's stage, you take the ferry to the small town of Mohacs, Hungary's southernmost town on the Danube, famous for two memorable Turkish battles.

Overnight place: Mohacs

By bike or bus, explore the lively Serbian metropolis at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, journey through time from the past to the present, and learn about the rise and fall of Yugoslavia (optional). In the evening, Belgrade is bathed in a sea of lights. Visit Zemun, Belgrade's oldest district, or the famous bohemian quarter of Skadarlija, where taverns serve local specialties accompanied by lively folk music.

Overnight place: Belgrade

Experience a stunning fjord landscape in the middle of the Danube, where the river cuts through the Romanian Carpathians and the foothills of the Balkan Mountains. From the deck, enjoy steep gorges, dark forests, and historical monuments. Highlights include the Decebalus Monument and the ship's stop at Golubac Fortress, where you can visit. This natural wonder will give you goosebumps!

Overnight place: Novi Sad

The impressive Petrovaradin Fortress towers high above the provincial capital of Vojvodina. You'll cycle upstream along the flat banks of the Danube and take a ferry to the hilly landscape at the foot of Fruska Gora, characterized by orchards and vineyards and quaint farming villages. Ilok, Croatia's easternmost town, is famous for its wines, which are even enjoyed by the British royal family. You'll visit the 400-year-old wine cellar of a local winemaker, taste famous regional wines, and learn about Croatian winemaking traditions (optional).

You're in the border triangle, cycling through the endless expanse of the Bačka (the land of the Danube Swabians). Small, sleepy farming villages, bright yellow rapeseed fields, and endless agricultural land line your route from Croatia via Serbia to Hungary. The alternative route leads through the pristine nature of the Dunav-Drava-Nemzeti National Park. Numerous white storks nest on the roofs of the farmhouses; they even have their own museum. On your way to Mohács in Hungary, you'll pass the National Memorial, which commemorates the great battle of 1526.

Overnight place: Mohacs

Kalocsa is the capital of paprika. Colorful houses with bright floral patterns and the cathedral, towering like a rock into the sky, dominate the cityscape. At the Paprika Museum, you'll learn all about Hungary's favorite spice. You'll cycle along the well-developed dam cycle path through the endless expanse of the Puszta, past cornfields and orchards stretching to the horizon. On your way to Solt, the birthplace of the famous conductor Sir George Solti, white sandbanks along the banks of the Danube invite you to take a refreshing dip in the water. In the afternoon, experience a horseback riding demonstration by the daredevil Csikosoks (traditional Hungarian folk musicians) and a tasting of local specialties (optional).

Overnight place: solt

Steep mountain slopes frame the picturesque, gently rolling landscape of the "Hungarian Wachau." Located in the heart of the Danube, the idyllic island of Szentendre exudes true Puszta romance. During your bike tour along idyllic bike paths through picturesque farming villages, you'll experience Hungarian joie de vivre firsthand. Visible from afar is the dome of the imposing Esztergom Basilica, towering high above the Danube. Hungary's largest church, with its Tuscan-style high altar and red marble walls, is particularly worth seeing.

After an eventful day of cycling, you deserve some relaxation. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Donauauen National Park from the sun deck and the impressive skyline as you enter Vienna. Cycle to the Danube Island – Vienna's favorite recreational area, take a bike ride to the nearby Klosterneuburg Abbey, or hike through the idyllic vineyards on Kahlenberg (providing wonderful views of the Danube metropolis). The evening concludes in true Austrian style with a classical waltz and operetta concert in the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace (optional).

The magnificent Ringstrasse evokes times long past, and venerable coffee houses tempt you with Viennese pastries. There's plenty of time to stroll through the charming little alleys or the Naschmarkt, a spectacle for the eyes, ears, and nose. Conclude your stay in Vienna in the evening with a traditional visit to one of the quaint Heuriger (wine taverns).

Overnight place: Vienna

Your final bike tour is the crowning glory! The route mainly follows the Eurovelo 6. In Austria, Slovakia and Hungary you will cycle on well-developed cycle paths on the flat, while in Croatia and Serbia you will cycle along quiet country roads and unpaved embankment cycle paths. One of your stages is hilly.

Under Ours
Riverboats are limited in size (length, height, and width) (bridge passages, locks) and therefore cannot be compared to ocean-going vessels. The cabins offer less space than hotel rooms, but are equally comfortably equipped. A riverboat is both a "vacation hotel" and a working tool that moves under engine power and must be constantly operated (even at night, sometimes with lock and bridge passages and the resulting retraction and extension of the superstructure). Unfortunately, disruptions during lock passages cannot be avoided. While docked, visibility may be impaired by other ships or harbor walls. In the event of extreme high or low tide, the shipping company reserves the right to change or cancel the voyage. In these cases, there is no legal entitlement to compensation. The same applies to officially ordered lock and bridge repairs or to engine or drive damage to the ship through no fault of the ship's owner.

Rental bike disclaimer: By booking our rental bike liability waiver, you don't have to worry about damage or theft of your rental bike. We assume liability, so you won't have to bear any financial responsibility if you use and secure the rental bike properly. This only applies to lost keys, batteries, and chargers for e-bikes, as well as damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence.
