Germany's beautiful river landscapes Mosel The Saar region invites you! Combine varied cycling tours with a comfortable stay aboard the MS Switzerland. During this 8-day trip, explore Saarburg, sometimes called "Little Venice," among other places. However, the town is by no means the only highlight of this journey for romantics and gourmets. Beautiful half-timbered houses, vineyards, the Porta Nigra in Trier, and the old course of the Saar River: all will be highlights. While you are active during the day, the ship follows you along the river, returning to serve as your floating hotel at the end of each day's journey. Mosel and Saar present themselves in the best light.

Your ship will take you to Alken today. From here you will cycle to Moselcore and then on to Cochem, where historic half-timbered houses in the old town, the town hall and the old market square with St. Martin's fountain await you - and the Reichsburg castle towers over everything like a fairytale castle. We recommend that inexperienced cyclists spend the day on board and use the free afternoon in Cochem.

Overnight stay in Cochem

After breakfast, cycle along the winding Mosel along the river to the small town of Beilstein. As “Rothenburg an der Mosel“ this lovely little town even went into the Filmhistory. After a short tour, we head past the steepest vineyard in Europe, the Bremmer Calmont, to Zell an der Mosel – known for the vineyard “Zeller Schwarze Katz”. You should take the time to taste the good wines of the Mosel know.

Overnight stay: Zell

Today you will cycle first through the romantic Traben-Trarbach, the Art Nouveau town on the Middle Moselle, and then through the world-famous wine town of Kröv to Bernkastel-Kues. Here, stately half-timbered houses line the medieval market square, which invites you to explore.

Accommodation location: Bernkastel-Kues

Your journey takes you to Piesport, the largest wine-growing community on the MoselThe largest Roman wine press ever found north of the Alps is also located here. In Neumagen-Dhron, the oldest wine-producing town in Germany, you can see a replica of a Roman wine ship before continuing on to Mehring in the early afternoon.

Accommodation location: Mehring

You cycle via Pfalzel to Trier. One of the oldest cities in Germany is worth a thorough tour: its Roman roots have been kept alive by impressive buildings such as the Porta Nigra, a city gate of gigantic proportions, and the Basilica of Constantine.

Accommodation location: Trier

Today you cycle along the river from Trier via Wasserbillig in Luxembourg to Saarburg, also known as "Little Venice". The townscape is characterized by narrow streets, half-timbered houses, baroque buildings and colorful fishermen's and boatmen's houses.

Schedule and program changes are always possible. If, for example, a section of the route cannot be navigated due to low or high water levels or bad weather, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety (this is not grounds for a free cancellation). The same applies to lock and/or bridge repairs ordered by authorities and not announced in advance.

Bringing your own bicycle: Due to limited space on the sun deck, bringing your own bicycle is only possible upon request and subject to availability. We exclude all liability for loss, theft, or damage – this also applies to damage incurred during transport from the ship to shore and back.

Other information: Please bear in mind that your riverboat is both your "holiday hotel" and a working vessel that moves using engine power and requires constant operation, including at night (sometimes involving lock and bridge passages). We recommend that particularly noise-sensitive guests bring earplugs. Lock passages are disruptive and unfortunately cannot be avoided.

Route profileThe quality of the cycle paths is excellent. MoselThe cycle path mostly runs on paved or asphalted roads without any significant gradients. This means that this trip is also suitable for inexperienced cyclists.

Available on board (limited quantity): Bicycle helmet (UVEX I-VO) €45 each, mobile phone holder €10 each, power bank (10.000 mAh) €20 each
