Wide beaches, wild dunes, fresh North Sea air, and a feeling of freedom between land and water: Zeeland is one of the most beautiful coastal regions in the Netherlands. On this Sail & Bike trip, you'll discover not only the popular spots right on the North Sea coast, but also completely new facets of this surprisingly diverse region.

The tour aboard the three-masted sailing ship Elizabeth combines relaxed sailing passages with varied cycling tours through the southwest of the Netherlands and part of Belgium. The route takes you from Antwerp through a landscape of estuaries, dikes, polders, quiet paths, charming harbor towns, and historic cities. Sometimes you'll cycle through dunes and past long sandy beaches, sometimes through tranquil polder landscapes, to old port towns, and to the impressive hydraulic engineering structures of the Netherlands.

It is precisely this variety that makes the trip so appealing: familiar Zeeland moments combined with new perspectives on a region that has so much more to offer than just beaches and the sea. Sailing here is also a special pleasure. In the calm waters around the Zeeland islands, you can experience the maritime side of the trip in a relaxed manner – ideal for beginners. No prior experience is necessary. If you wish, the crew can show you everything and you can even help with setting the sails.

This creates a journey that uniquely combines active experiences, a maritime atmosphere, and relaxing vacation days. Look forward to fresh North Sea air, beautiful cycling routes, cozy hours on deck, and Zeeland as you may never have experienced it before.

Embarkation begins at 14:00 PM. Your ship is docked near Antwerp's city center. This Belgian port city is not only one of Europe's most important seaports, but also renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and long tradition in the diamond trade. Once all guests are on board, your journey on the Elizabeth begins . You will travel by engine and – weather permitting – also under sail through the Flemish lowlands towards Doel. Take your time to settle in, get comfortable in your cabin, and enjoy a drink on deck while taking in the passing scenery. This is also a great opportunity to meet the crew and your fellow travelers.

After breakfast, a short boat trip will take you to Paal. Here your first bike tour begins, and you'll also cross the border into the Netherlands. Today's longer route leads you to Hulst, a particularly well-preserved fortified town whose historical structure is still clearly visible. From there, you'll cycle on to Terneuzen. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, there's also a shorter route. In any case, the Elizabeth will be waiting for you in Terneuzen at the end of the day.

Today you'll discover Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. This region belongs to the Netherlands, but its location on the Belgian border and along the water gives it a unique character. Along the way, you'll experience the wide horizons, dikes, polders, and the constant interplay of land and water so typical of the area. At the end of your bike tour, you'll reboard and continue sailing together towards the Zeeland mainland.

Today's circular tour from Middelburg takes you to the Zeeland coast and into the landscapes that so many holidaymakers love about this region. You'll cycle towards Vlissingen, then follow the coast with its dunes, beaches, and expansive views of the North Sea, passing Westkapelle before finally returning to Middelburg. It's a day filled with sea air, light, and wide open spaces – with precisely that relaxed coastal atmosphere for which Zeeland is so highly regarded.

Even today, Zeeland reveals its particularly charming side. Your route first takes you to Veere, one of the most beautiful historic harbor towns in the region. The town enchants visitors with its old harbor, narrow streets, and numerous buildings dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.

From Veere, the route continues to Neeltje Jans, and the journey there is a highlight in itself, as you cycle across the Oosterscheldekering. This impressive storm surge barrier is approximately 9 kilometers long, rests on 65 massive concrete pillars, and is considered the most famous structure of the Delta Works. Neeltje Jans itself is an artificial island, originally built as a work station during the construction of the barrier and now home to a visitor center dedicated to the Delta Works and the fight against the water. Afterwards, you cycle on to Kamperland, through an open, water-dominated landscape known for its tranquility, vastness, and numerous opportunities for water sports.

Today, sailing takes center stage. Perhaps you've already witnessed the sails being hoisted in recent days. Today, you'll enjoy the maritime experience even more intensely. You'll cruise through the calm waters around the Zeeland islands, pass through locks, and experience this unique waterscape entirely from the ship. Because sailing here mostly takes place in sheltered and relatively quiet areas, this day is particularly enjoyable for beginners. No prior experience is necessary. If you wish, the crew will gladly explain the procedures on board, and you might even be able to help hoist the sails yourself. At the end of the day, you'll arrive in Hansweert.

On the last day of cycling, you'll embark on another beautiful stage from Hansweert to Zandvliet. There, the bicycles will be loaded back on board, and you'll sail back to Antwerp. This is a fitting end to a varied week – filled with coastal landscapes, historical sites, fresh sea air, and many special experiences shared between bike and ship.

Your journey ends after breakfast. Disembarkation takes place by 9:30 a.m.

About the ship
The stylish and beautiful three-masted clipper Elizabeth, built in 1913, boasts an elegant interior. During its careful conversion into a modern passenger sailing vessel, great attention was paid to preserving the originality of this typical Dutch flat-bottomed ship while creating a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. The impressive clipper Elizabeth is a very popular sailing vessel on the IJsselmeer tour.

Description of the cabins
The Elizabeth has ten two-person cabins (6 m²) that were completely renovated a few years ago. Eight cabins are located on the lower deck, and two on the upper deck. All cabins have two separate beds. Some cabins can also be booked as triple or quadruple cabins (the third or fourth bed is raised). All cabins have a shower, toilet, and sink. Each cabin has heating and a window that can be opened.

Description of the ship
On the lower deck of the Elizabeth, there is a large lounge with a comfortable seating area, a restaurant, and a bar. Wi-Fi is available. On the upper deck, the Elizabeth offers a lovely sun deck with tables and benches where you can relax and enjoy the views during the cruise.
