Along the way, you'll pass through many charming villages and visit various interesting sites.
You can enjoy the sights and truly indulge yourself aboard your "floating hotel." Embarkation and check-in at 13:00 PM. The crew welcomes you on board. At 14:00 PM, the ship departs Amsterdam and heads for Vianen, a small fortified town on the Lek River. After dinner and bike distribution, your first short bike tour begins.
Today, you'll cycle along a beautiful route to the silver town of Schoonhoven. Many talented silversmiths have been based in this town since the 17th century. You'll then continue cycling along the Lek River, cross the Alblasserwaard polder, and finally reach Kinderdijk, certainly the highlight of the day. Here, you'll find 19 historic windmills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can visit one of these windmills, so don't forget your camera! The final stretch is covered by the "Waterbus": a 10-minute journey from Alblasserdam (near Kinderdijk) to Dordrecht, one of the oldest cities in Holland.
During breakfast, your ship sails to Tholen, where you'll begin your next cycling tour, crossing the Wouwse Plantage forest. Another highlight is the impressive Kreekrak locks. Here, you'll re-embark and end your day with a boat trip to the port of Antwerp. Antwerp is considered the world capital of the diamond trade. And that's not the only reason this atmospheric city is a true treasure trove. Discover the many sights, such as the Town Hall, one of the many magnificent Renaissance buildings, the historic Grote Markt, the Cathedral of Our Lady, and the medieval Steen Castle. After dinner, you'll have the opportunity to explore the wonderful old town.
Today's section is definitely one of the natural highlights of your trip, as you'll cycle from Antwerp along one of the most beautiful cycling routes along the picturesque Scheldt River to Dendermonde. Here, your ship awaits you for your next overnight stay.
This morning, you'll cycle along the Scheldt River to Ghent, where your ship will dock overnight in a suburb. Ghent is a vibrant university city with a rich history. Thanks to its location at the confluence of the Lys and Scheldt rivers, Ghent has been a vitally important trading port since Roman times. Ghent boasts an opera house, 18 museums, over 100 churches, and more than 400 historic buildings. The most important sight is St. Bavo's Cathedral, where you can admire many medieval masterpieces, including the world-famous "Adoration of the Lamb of God" by Jan Eyck.
Today your bike tour takes you through the enchanting landscape of West Flanders around the city of Bruges, also known as the "Venice of the North." This UNESCO World Heritage city captivates more than two million visitors every year. As an excellent example of a well-preserved medieval settlement, Bruges has managed to preserve its historic buildings, which have developed over centuries, so that the Gothic buildings significantly shape the city's identity. There is plenty to do here. Visit one of the many museums or simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere of this unique and unforgettably beautiful city in one of the pleasant cafés. Tonight's dinner is not included in the price. Take the opportunity to sample Belgium's famous cuisine in one of the great restaurants. The crew will be happy to provide you with restaurant recommendations.
Your final bike ride takes you along a quiet canal lined with beautiful, old poplar trees, through a charming polder landscape with farms, and past the cozy little town of Damme to the North Sea coast. A 12-kilometer-long sandy beach awaits you here. Enjoy the magnificent dune landscape and a warm drink in one of the many cafés. Perhaps you'll even dare to dip your toes in the cold North Sea water? On the way back to Bruges, you'll cycle along a small, picturesque canal.
Disembarkation after breakfast until 09:30 am and individual journey home.
