Tourenkarte Holland

Leeuwarden is the most important city in Friesland. In the historic old town you can look at the small canals or stroll through the cozy shopping streets. There are also beautiful historical buildings, such as the late Gothic Chancellery and some museums. An interesting museum is the Naturmuseum or the "Princessehof".

Leeuwarden

The first bike ride takes you to Sneek, a town that was once surrounded by canals and fortress walls. Here you can visit the cozy center with the town hall and the Martini Church.

Overnight location: Sneek/Ijlst

On the third day you go to Balk or Wijckel, not far from the IJsselmeer. You drive past Sloten, with its 700 inhabitants the smallest town along the Eleven Cities Tour. Enjoy the small village of Balk, as well as other charming villages and the typical Friesland landscape.

Overnight accommodation: Balk/Wijckl

Bolsward is known for its picturesque streets, but there are other idyllic places to visit on this day. Stavoren, for example, which is now very popular with water sports enthusiasts, and Workum should not be forgotten either. These places were all Hanseatic cities in the past.

Overnight location: Bolsward

Pass Makkum today, a village well known for its pottery. An important university was once located in Franeker. That's why you can still find an old student pub here, but of course there are many other sights. Here you can see the Renaissance-style town hall and the Coopmanshaus.

Overnight stay: Harlingen/Franeker

On the way we pass Franeker, a former university town. Dokkum is a relatively special town as the layout of the streets hasn't changed since the 1650's. It will certainly be noticed that Dokkum has always taken good care of its architectural and cultural heritage.

Overnight stay: Dokkum

On the last day you drive back to Leeuwarden. Along the route the cozy villages of Rinsumageest and Burdaard can be visited.
