Today you reach the mountain town of Ruhla with its historic tradition of watchmaking. Contemplative paths take you to Ruhla-Ascherbrück via the Hohe Sonne. A detour to the imposing Drachenschlucht is definitely recommended!

A prominent milestone today is the Große Inselsberg (916 m above sea level) with a fantastic view over the Thuringian Forest, with good visibility up to the Brocken in the Harz. Short climbs are rewarded with reaching one of the most beautiful mountain meadows in the Thuringian Forest, a small mountain lake awaits you to relax at the finish!

Today you hike from the Neue Ausspanne along the ridge path through the Thuringian Forest and reach the climatic health resort of Oberhof, which is known for the successes of its winter sports enthusiasts. Relax in the wellness pool and discover the interesting Exotarium and the blooming Rennsteig garden.

Passing the Schneekopf (978 m) you come today via the Suhler Hütte to Frauenwald. On the way you can take a break at the historic Rennsteig train station and take a detour into the history of the bunker museum just before Frauenwald.

Today you reach the middle of the Rennsteig and can see the Rennsteig Museum in Neustadt am Rennsteig. You reach the idyllic village of Masserberg, near which the Werra spring is located.

Today you can make a detour to the nature park information center in Friedrichshöhe. You hike a bit along the fairy tale path and come to Neuhaus, ... where the Rennsteig is called Rennweg! The town church and the Geißlerhaus are among the local attractions.
