Numerous romantic castles and palaces were built between Cologne and MainBuilt along the banks of the Rhine, many of these houses are steeped in fascinating stories. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley is rich in legends and is breathtakingly beautiful.
The Rhine often carves its way through rocky terrain here, flowing past cities over 2000 years old, such as Koblenz, and town centers with many half-timbered houses. These are ideal landscapes for a relaxing and beautiful vacation. Last but not least, many of the towns and villages shaped by the Rhine between Cologne and... MainThe excellent wines make the trip a gourmet holiday: with fine wines and many regional delicacies.

Individual arrival in Cologne. Embarkation from 16:00 pm. On board, the captain and his crew, as well as your onboard tour guide, will warmly welcome you.

Before your bike tour, take some time for a stroll through the old town. Afterwards, cycle to Bonn, which, as the former capital and federal city, still retains an international flair. On the way, if the weather is nice, a visit to the Groov "leisure island" in the expansive Rhine meadows of the Cologne district of Porz-Zündorf is worthwhile. In Bonn, museums such as the House of History and the Bundeskunsthalle (Federal Art Gallery) vie for your attention, but the Beethoven House, the Rheinaue leisure park, and the Federal Quarter with its Path of Democracy are also worth a visit.

The journey continues by bicycle towards Andernach. Königswinter is known for Drachenburg Castle on the Drachenfels (a steep climb). Today's destination, Andernach, is famous for the world's largest cold-water geyser, whose water shoots up to 60 meters high in an impressive display.

Neuwied, with its impressive Engers Castle, lies on your way to Koblenz. At the famous Deutsches Eck (German Corner) with the equestrian statue of Emperor Wilhelm I, the river flows. Mosel into the Rhine. Another attraction is Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, which you can also reach via the Koblenz Rhine cable car.

The cycling tour continues down the Rhine through the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley. You'll pass the romantic Marksburg, the only hilltop castle on the Middle Rhine that has never been destroyed, and the town of Boppard with its Electoral Castle, before reaching St. Goar. Here, the ruins of Rheinfels Castle, the largest castle ruins on the Rhine, await you. Also worth seeing are Katz and Maus Castles on the opposite bank of the Rhine in St. Goarshausen.

You'll pass beautiful Rhine castles again, such as Reichenstein Castle and Rheinstein Castle. Cycling past the famous Lorelei Rock, you'll finally reach Rüdesheim. Explore Rüdesheim's historically significant sights. Or treat yourself to a ride on the cable car to the Niederwald Monument. From there, you'll have a magnificent view of Rüdesheim's old town and the river.

On the final cycling stage, the Rhine reveals itself once again in all its beauty. Eltville am Rhein lies along your route. The Electoral Castle, the city's landmark, is well worth a visit. MainZ, today's destination, boasts numerous impressive buildings. Perhaps you'll visit the High Cathedral of St. Martin. MainFor example, one of Germany's proud imperial cathedrals or the Electoral Palace. In the old town, you'll find charming alleyways and squares like Augustinerstraße and Kirschgarten, with beautiful half-timbered houses and wine restaurants.

More information about the MS Switzerland

Embarkation from 16:00 PM, disembarkation at 9:00 AM

Minimum number of participants: 80 people, required 21 days prior to arrival

Bringing your own bicycle: Due to limited space on the sun deck, bringing your own bicycle is only possible upon request and subject to availability. We exclude all liability for loss, theft, or damage – this also applies to damage incurred during transport from the ship to shore and back.

Excursion program: Bookable exclusively on board. A brief description will be provided with your travel documents. Depending on the group composition, excursions may be offered bilingually in German and English.

Schedule and program changes are always possible. If, for example, a section of the route cannot be navigated due to low or high water levels or bad weather, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety (this is not grounds for a free cancellation). The same applies to lock and/or bridge repairs ordered by authorities and not announced in advance.

Other information: Please bear in mind that your riverboat is both your "holiday hotel" and a working vessel that moves using engine power and requires constant operation, including at night (sometimes involving lock and bridge passages). We recommend that particularly noise-sensitive guests bring earplugs. Lock passages are disruptive and unfortunately cannot be avoided.

Route profile: mostly on paved cycle paths and embankments or quiet country roads without any significant inclines, suitable for leisure cyclists and beginners

Available on board (limited quantity): Bicycle helmet (UVEX I-VO) €45 each, mobile phone holder €10 each, power bank (10.000 mAh) €20 each
