Binger Mäuseturm in Bingen am Rhein

Arrive on time today Mainz! Not only the Roman-Germanic Central Museum, the Gutenberg Museum, the Imperial Cathedral and the Electoral Palace are worth an extensive visit.

Overnight place: Mainz

The beautiful first cycle route takes you through the gentle vineyard slopes and well-known wine-growing towns of the Rheingau. Here the Rhine still flows leisurely, forming small romantic islands and expanding its bed to a width of up to 800 m! Visit the half-timbered town of Eltville, which is worth seeing, and plan a detour (+ 14 km) to Eberbach Monastery. In Rüdesheim you should take the opportunity to stroll through the world-famous Drosselgasse or take a relaxed ride on the cable car up to the Niederwald Monument. From Rüdesheim to Bingen you use the Rhine ferry and then continue on the well-developed cycle path to Bacharach. In these 16 km alone you will pass the Mouse Tower, the Rheinstein and Reichenstein castles as well as Sooneck and Hohneck castles and also the Fürstenberg ruins. Everywhere is worth a stop and in Bacharach you should climb the city wall before finally rolling into Oberwesel.

Overnight stay in Oberwesel

You will reach St. Goar in the morning and can climb the Loreley there. A hiking trail leads up and gives you a beautiful view of the narrowest point in the romantic Rhine Valley. This is the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley and the worthwhile visitor center on the Loreley offers interesting insights into the history, nature and culture of the region as well as the myth of the Loreley. Back on the shore, the cycle path then continues to Boppard. It's turbulent here, but you can also take the chairlift to the Vierseenblick to escape to the wooded, quiet heights and enjoy the view of the Rhine Valley again. Or visit the well-preserved Marksburg Castle and Stolzenfels Castle on the way to the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, where you can end the day.

Overnight stay in Koblenz

Cozy spa towns and inviting wine villages compete for your visit today. Thermal baths and beer gardens also want to pamper cyclists. Or give your bike a break and enjoy a stretch of the Rhine from the water on a boat (on your own). Between Koblenz and Bad Honnef, everything is possible for you! For those interested in history, a visit to the "Bridge of Remagen" museum (on your own) is worthwhile just before the end of the stage before you take a leisurely stroll through the pedestrian zone of Bad Honnef. Enjoy nice cafes and pretty half-timbered houses here. Then you roll past Bad Godesberg at the foot of the Siebengebirge. Marvel at the Drachenfels rock, which towers 250 m above the Rhine, and take an exciting ride to the summit on the Drachenfelsbahn, the oldest cog railway in Germany, before the old federal capital of Bonn awaits you.

Accommodation location: Bonn

If you want, you can still spend some time in Bonn today, or you can set off quickly and Cologne Cathedral will soon come into view. Today's stage is not too long, so you will reach your hotel in the city center early and can still admire the many sights of Cologne without any worries.

Accommodation location: Cologne

Time passed far too quickly and your journey ends after breakfast in Cologne. Who back to Mainz, has good train connections or can book our practical return transfer service from the end hotel to the start hotel.
